Care Package Exploit Fixed in New Modern Warfare 2 Patch

A new patch was released tonight for Modern Warfare 2 that fixes the speed running glitch while holding a care package drop. The patch also addresses a few other issues including a vague fix for "XP hacks."

• Care Package, Emergency Airdrop, and Sentry Gun marker grenades sprint speed normalized
• Sentry Guns: Improved placement detection, preventing cases of Sentry Guns inside geometry
• Model 1887: Bling using Akimbo and FMJ combination now has same range and damage as non-Bling Model 1887s
• Improved player collision removing cases of getting into geometry and 'elevators'
• Mouse latency tweaks for more mouse movement consistency
• Fixes to prevent various texture and XP hacks

There are no specifics as to whether or not that fix for the XP hacks has anything to do with the hacked level up and level down servers we mentioned the other day.

As with most patches through Steam, the update will be automatically applied the next time you start up Steam or Modern Warfare 2.

As much as I enjoyed winning CTF matches 30~-0, it is nice to see it fixed.

Quit because they fixed it or because it took so long to fix?

I would hope not many. It was annoying, but I didn't find it that big a deal.

Quit because they fixed it. I just looked and I now have 10(ten) kills with the 1887. But some people have ranked up solely so they could get it, and tried everything to get the range on it once IW attempted to balance it the first time. Now that it should be a normal shotgun in the game, I'm sure tears are being wept as I type this.

Then add in the people who tubed to get four kills just so they could lagaport around with the CPM in-hand, knifing people? Oh yeah, some people are going to be outraged. I'm seeing the posts now: "IW folded to the whiners and nerfed a legit part of the game!!!1!!!!!"

I noticed the speed decease today, it is still faster then holding a gun in my opinion.

For most of us it's crashing if we have the audacity to try hosting two rounds in a row. Of course the flipside of that is if you're playing and have the same host twice in a row, the game is going to load the whole map and make you wait for a minute or two before saying you lost connection to the host. You know, because he crashed. I've yet to play two rounds in a row without it happening to me, either the time out or the crash itself. And a few times I've jumped into a lobby after waiting for a while only to find out it was that host's second round of hosting. Yeah, crash.

I can't launch the game anymore it gets stuck at the main menu. I reinstalled the game as well. Do they have any answers?

BF2 was ruined after 1.03 (including 1.12 and 1.2), but 1.3 was an extraordinarily bad patch. Yeah, I can see this MW2 patch as 1.3.

This lates patch sucks. I have never had this many issues connecting to sessions. I played about 4 rounds today, IN 3 HOURS!!!!!!!!!! Most of the time was spent loading a map waiting for the game to figure out that it sucks at selecting hosts.
