  • [CES] Left 4 Dead 2's Motion Controls in Action

Kotaku, in their adventures in CES 2010, have found a moment to check out the Sixense TrueMotion controls in action with Valve's Left 4 Dead 2.

While we are unable to embed the video here, the full video demonstration can be found at Kotaku. In the demo, a representative from Razer slices and dices his way through a few of the horde while detailing how the technology works.

    Some quick details:
    • Melee controls are gesture based
    • Crouch and jump are also gesture based
    • Two thumbsticks (one per wand/hand) allow you to walk
    • Uses a magnetic field to interpret movement, does not need a line of sight to a receiver in order to operate
    • A lot of in-game sliders and sensitivity adjustment settings are included
    • Macro support will be added to create your own gestures
    • Still very early in development
    • Razer will be making the consumer product
    • Demo also includes a "Metroid" style free-aim mode with the guns
    • 40ms response time on the early developer builds, but will make use of Razer's RF technology to get this response time down significantly

We'll have more details as they're made available.

Awesome. Maybe in 3 years this will be a consumer product.
