New Video for Bad Company 2 Showing Squad Deathmatch

A new video was posted in the forums as well as on kotaku.com showing the new game mode "Squad Death Match".

Okay, it looks like we've figured the mystery around the mutliplayer mode I previewed earlier and the online beta that some of you have been playing. Squad Deathmatch is new to Battlefield while what's going on in the beta is "old." <!--more-->

EA publicist Jino Talens says it better in this email:

Squad Deathmatch is a brand new mode to BFBC2, so we're still testing and building it out to the way we want it in the final game. The PS3 beta out now is a general term used in the industry when a game is released early to the public for testing purposes, but the game overall is still in early Alpha.

Glad we got that cleared up. Now I can get back to lusting after tanks.

What are your thoughts on the four squad deathmatch? Does it seem like it will rely on heavy teamwork? Is it something that will catch on?

Looked like a cross between Crysis wars and COD to me.I'm pretty sure I will pass on this one.

i think this looks amazing. only problem is if your playing on a pub you cant depend on your squadmates for ****. also, at least for PC, you have to pray that your squadmates have and use a head set. dont criticize until you have played it.

Christ guys it's one of many game modes and you don't need to play it if you don't want to.

Think whatever you want of the gameplay mode. I was more focused on the map it self, looks like a crysis stage, and the graphics are pretty comparable. And should shut up the people bitching about the beige from the other two maps.

I'm exited about a destructable environment with Battlefield myself. Crysis was Ok and all, but it wasn't the same.

Any extras, to me, is just bonus.

I'm glad there's going to be a little variation of maps in this one, unlike BF2/2142.

BF2 was mostly desert and grass. 2142 was snow and desert. This has urban, desert, snow, jungle,etc.

Do you pass on anything that looks like Crysis or COD?

Otherwise I guess you're just waiting around for BF3 expecting something like BF1942 or BF2.

Battlefield Death match? Ugh.

Team Deathmatch was in Battlefield 1942 (in addition to CTF and CQ).

Only difference in Squad Deathmatch is 4 teams instead of 2.

Should be interesting, although having seen the weapon list and specializations, its all looking very CoD gimmicky right now.

I wonder how they will encourage the other game modes to be played. The reason Conquest is the battlefield standard today is because Team Deathmatch and CTF were not played in BF1942. The people themselves chose.

well i think its more that BF was more suited for conquest mode than anything. CTF on maps the size of 1942 didn't make much sense. the big maps had to have capture points otherwise there would be no focus point for firefights.

It's just ONE of the game modes. It's not like it will be the focus of the entire game or is the premise around which they have made the game.


That said, I think this looks really interesting. It's a new gametype that I haven't seen in either the CoD or Crysis series. It will require a LOT of teamwork compared to other BF gametypes. You can't be a lonewolf or sniper in this one like you could in a 64 player server. Teamwork and cooperation are fun. :)
