TGN Feature: Modern Warfare 2 Review (PC)

While Modern Warfare 2 may have been out for a little while now, its popularity is still ensuring that it's topping the sales' charts. Tonight, we bring you our own review of the PC version of Modern Warfare 2.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 picks up five years after the carnage that happens in the first Modern Warfare. You play as Gary "Roach" Sanderson for Task Force 141 and follow now Captain MacTavish to stop Makarov, the new Russian terrorist taking the place of Imran Zakhaev, from fulfilling his own agenda. To do so, Task Force 141 has to travel the globe in search of scarce information.

Many changes have happened since the release of Modern Warfare 2 as far as storyline and multiplayer options go. Twists and turns abound in this FPS sequel, both in the game and in news coverage up to the release date. Soap is now leading Task Force 141 and taking the mantle from Captain Price while the Americans are having some problems of their own. Feuds and gun battles erupt and the fun ensues.

Yes, the review covers all the highlights and low-lights with respect to Infinity Ward's latest and hugely hyped title. Check out the full review to see if we bought into the hype or not. To those looking for the meat and potatoes of the review, the "multiplayer" section is nearer to the bottom.

As i said in the review thread, i dont think giving a 6 for the multiplayer is very fair. I know it was a letdown but lets face it, its pretty much the same as CoD4's multiplayer and i bet we didnt give that a 6 2 years ago.

      yeah we would.

no dedicated servers, lag, no custom maps, no kick vote option for hackers, max 12 slot...., no lean, console lock, fps stuck at 85fps, FOV stuck at 65, and more

i think giving it a 6 is pushing it. yes game play just like cod4 in a sense of what you have to do, but with new kill streaks and maps. playing cod4 with all these things stated above made the game so fun, i could not stop playing. now basically you play a game that feels broken (basically it is being a ****ty rushed 360 port)

so saying this game is pretty much the same as cod4 is an understatement

Graphics don't deserve a 9.0 they are really outdated, and have no DX 10 or DX 11 support. MW2 Looks liken a game from 2006. Story is really bad I wouldn't give it an 8.5 either.

@The_Eliminator this is a review for the PC not XBox

I understand its for the PC and i played CoD4 on the PC but i still think 6 is harsh, yes we have no dedi servers etc but i seem to remember everyone being pretty happy with IWnet including myself when it was released in dedis place. Yes its not perfect, but what is nowadays?

I thought you were playing on Xbox 360...

And I haven't met too many people happy with IWNet. Once someone watches a killcam that shows them standing there doing nothing, when they know they put bullets into someone, there is usually some rage involved.

I have played both xbox and PC versions of CoD4 and both for MW2 and i cant really say that im that disappointed with MW2 on PC. Yes there are no dedis etc but i still really enjoy it enough to warrant it more than a 6.

I wouldn't give the MP more then a 4. You spend more time in the menu then in the game with this IWnet crap. Not a single day since release without some kind of problem, either it is a problem getting the party to actually join a server together or the game fails to migrate host, 3 TIMES IN A ROW!!!!!. It really sucks.
