I wish them the best of luck.
They couldn't do any worse of a PR stunt like Infinity Ward/Activision could.

It`s either gonna be different from CoD but cool and awesome in its own way, or like CoD but even more over the top. Hope it`s the first one.
I doubt they will beat CoD though.

What engine is the game going to run on?

DICE isn't really known for their infantry. I'm very skeptical about this game though I'd really love it to be great and take over Call of Duty, IW are just too full of themselves.

Thats the only problem from DICE, they really need to patch the game, now, so when it is release it can be balanced. But I guess they were the chosen softhouse just to implement the rank and unlock kits, that never have been acceptable in a MoH game. They still have the way to make the communities swallow those things

DICE not known for their infantry? I would say that it was Dice that made MP infantry combat mainstream with the BF series. Granted it wasn't infantry only, but infantry was a large and integral part of the game.

well i think he's saying infantry on infantry combat is not dice's strong points, which i agree with. but if it was infantry combat we were after, we'd be playing other games.

Its a matter of taste then, because I find the infantry combat in BF2142 better than that in the latest COD games

that doesn't ring true at all. modern warfare 2 doesn't have dedicated servers, in fact i would consider it a straight up console port, and it's doing well

medal of honor has failed so many times because it hasn't stayed true to its original concept. moh had a huge following when PC gaming and competition was on a rise, and it did it because it was simple and to the point, like counter-strike. games these days have too much going on, too much to press, too much to achieve and not enough value for your time. i would honestly put COD in that category. 70 ranks, so many achievements, ect ect. is it all really that necessary? are iron-sights really necessary for a fun gaming experience? is all this realism and sugar coating all that needed?

what moh needs is to reboot itself, keep its original concept, its simple and arcade style gameplay and friendly modding capabilities to have a rich community again. however, looking at this box art and modern setting, i can already tell it will fail

did counter strike sell like ****? no, and look at it, it's as unrealistic as it gets. why did it sell good? because it's simple and to the point, which makes it perfect for competition.

MW2 sold the way it did because of hype and marketing. You couldn't watch an episode of House without seeing 6 commercials for MW2 or Best Buy selling MW2. People weren't told about the complete console-port status of the game until right before it came out, and the marketing campaign went into overdrive to wash that away. "Never mind the removal of essential features, listen to this Eminem song."

They will have a lot less people buying MW3 on faith now. They had built up a surplus of trust and goodwill, and now they've pissed on it. Airborne was the same story.

"Many features the community expected of a 2007 first-person shooter were not included with the game, such as support for dedicated servers, LAN support, content downloading, in-game remote server administration capability (RCON), and support for more than 12 players."

The date and number of players are the only things that give away the fact that this blurb is about Airborne and not MW2.

Yeah, I never played any of the Medal of Honour series so I don't know the back story behind it. Saying what you've said however I guess I'll be a little more cautious with the new game being developed.

But I do wonder if EA plan to capitalise on the failure of a PR stunt IW and Activision pulled towards the PC market. The potential is there and I sure as hell hope they capitalise on it.
Create an FPS using the proper essence of an FPS game and not do silly console ports with auto aiming and the like.

Its pretty grim for the PC community right now.

well c'mon, if it's just infantry based combat, you have to say COD has hands down better system than 2142.

2142 might be the better overall experience due to expansive and better designed maps, higher player counts, etc. but there is something to be said for COD's recipe for infantry combat. for starters, its superior because the bullets actually go where you aim, not some random cone.

could you imagine how bada$$ a game that combined MW2's infantry combat with BF2's maps and vehicles would be?
