$3 Billion in Total Revenues for the Call of Duty Series

Thanks to strong sales of Modern Warfare 2, the Call of Duty franchise has surpassed the $3 billion (USD) mark in total revenues.

This strong showing in revenues was brought about by sales totaling 55 million units across the entire series. Activision's Bobby Kotick said that this makes Call of Duty one of "greatest entertainment franchises of all time."
"If you consider the number of hours our audiences are engaged in playing Call of Duty games, it is likely to be one of the most viewed of all entertainment experiences in modern history"

Modern Warfare 2 continues to top sales charts all across the world.

And without the PC titles that franchise wouldn't have took off, now would it? I really want to buy the first CoD games for the PC but I can't find them anywhere, I've only played the demos. I think I can order the "Warchest" collection online. I really want it.

The older games are on Steam (though overpriced), but I got CoD:UO and CoD2 in the bargain bin at a supermarket near me. :awes2

I'll accept this award on behalf of the gaming community.

Oh there are so many people I'd like to thank. I'd like to thank us, gaming community members, for being awesome and buying the CoD series just like an alcoholic buys his drinks. I'd also like to thank the glorious overlords at Infinity Ward and Activision for thinking for us; heaven forbid we ever have to think for ourselves. We like to think that the period before MW2 was a particularly dark time where stupidity ran amok, but IWNet fixed all that. Finally, I'd like to thank Mr. Kotick himself; he obviously knows what to do with our extra $10 that MW cost. We don't really know what we could do with that $10, so we're far better off without it.

Again, thank you all so very much; we're all very surprised and honored.

It wouldnt surprise me if the series gets renamed "modern HALO", and they tie it in by saying Soap or your character (okay, if some of these people have died, dont tell me. I havent played it yet) is an ancestor of Master cheif. Then in the next game you go off into space and its only 2020...

I have a feeling this is the content of some console fanboys jack-off material/fanfiction

Yeah, I saw that too. Activision are getting more and more arrogant. maybe this is a plan by EA to infiltrate Activision with w@nkers so they can regain lost credibility.

A good sign for other developers that their course is worth it! No dedicated servers and higher prices, just put in a mission which heats up discussion and the sales are high. =D

another nail in the coffin for CoD on PC.

No one doubted it would sell great on the consoles. Thats 3 FRIKIN BILLION reasons why they've ditched PC's.

And who's fault is it? Ours!
