Rumor: Modern Warfare 2 on PC Leaked?

Community member, VAMP0006, has passed along word that the Russian version of Modern Warfare 2 on the PC may have been leaked already. He passed along a screen showing the setup menu and a key entry area for Steam.

With retailers already breaking the street date for the Xbox 360 version of the game, it doesn't seem too far fetched that the PC version would also fall to the same trends. As MW2 is tied to Steam, it seems unlikely that any legit copies that are purchased will even be playable until the unlock date on the 13th.

Of course, stranger things have happened.

Was more than likely picked up at retail. I don't think Steam will have a setup menu like that if purchased initially through Steam. I could be mistaken though.

Either way, game doesn't unlock until the 13th when Valve gets the go ahead to do so, so it's not like they can play yet.

Nope, someone (who shall remain nameless) in the Steam group already launched MW2 which changed his status to running the game. He ran it for a few seconds before Steam crashed on him, getting to the above screen. He was lucky not to have gotten banned, so kids, don't try this at home.

I will be annoyed if 402 comes out and says that "blah blah all PC people are pirates, see they are already doing it for MW2" especially considering the consoles have been illegally downloading this game for over a week.

... it's already been sent out in the UK to avoid postal strikes. Someone I know has a copy (albeit not PC).

My clan mate has received his pre-order this morning but get the following when he tries to activate it....

"Modern Warfare 2 CD-Keys
If you attempt to activate the game before the retail release date, you will receive the message "Invalid CD Key". You will be able to activate your CD Key on the retail release date, currently set for November 10th."

We're in the UK so the theory on avoiding the postal strikes might be why. He also said it comes on two discs and you need 12 GB of disk space.

So does this mean they've actually finished the game or is there going to be a 6 GB patch when you finally activate it!

yeah this is stupid indeed ppl that are going to buy it the 10th have to wait 3 more days what wher they thinking ?
