i can't see how anyone can come to this conclusion without having played the game.

i reserve my judgement until after i play it.

Because I believe gameplay is different enough (from what i've seen) not to warrant it. Seems a lot quicker paced than BF2. Prone would probably counter what they are trying to achieve.

        Prone for Bf3 though

Please Rambo, just take 2 minutes to review your spelling. Half your post doesn't make sense. Download the Firefox dictionary plugin for automatic spellcheck.

As for prone, it was already explained that Bad Company 2 is designed to have faster gameplay than BF2. It's not a BF2 successor, so they are going down a different route with combat. Adding prone would slow the whole game down and that's why I wouldn't mind it being left out.

Secondly, this is an arcade game. The only realism is the surroundings and machinery. Nothing else is realistic. That's just the type of game it is.

                    @ Alex
I'd like to believe there is some level of realism. I've always considered Battlefield to be the perfect combination of realism, fun and natural accessability.

Prone is only really an issue for the 24 player console. With 12 players a side, prone can severely impede on pacing. Whereas PC and the higher player count, there is a constant stream of targets which negates the effect of campers. So prone should be a real possibility for the PC.

And besides how can any Battlefield fan say they have never used prone or will never need it? There are countless applications.

                    Battlefield 3 and prone is non-negotiable :p.

As for the trailer, it's looking fantastic. The expansion of interior combat and destructability is new for the PC and I can't wait to experience the gameplay possibilities.

Someone mentioned the commo-rose. I can't believe I forgot about that! An essential feature. Spotting and requesting couldn't have been any more natural.

Squad play is also a huge draw. Someone on Kotaku mentioned that BFBC disbanded squads and scattered members onto opposing teams after every round(?), whereas I know for a fact that BF2 keeps your squads intact. This 'scrambling' could be frustrating when trying to play with specific individuals.

The static map toggle in the PC option panel. All previous Battlefields have had it, so I hope it's there.

Trailer was really decent! the hummer at the end is just the sort of thing I was looking for in this game.

From the trailer, it does look fast paced and honestly I think no-prone is a godsend in a game like this. The sniper for example, had to use the rock as his cover, instead of the usual lying down on top of a hill as per usual. And fighting in all that cover, people proned around all the corners would just be horrible, It looks great as it is!

anybody else bothered how they're trying to force the pacing on us? if the game naturally slows down for some reason (ex. a hidden sniper), then let it be. i don't want to be forced to play at a certain pace, part of the BF sandbox experience is that your role often dictates the pace you play and it varies.

if i want fast pace action arcade like experience, i can play COD. why does everything have to be super fast? sometimes i like to hide out in a remote part of the map and do my own thing. sure i'm not racking up points like the people at the bottlenecks but sometimes it's fun to just stay back a bit and play at a slower pace.

meh i guess i'll have to wait for BF3 to get that.

You finally got it! BFBC2 is sequel to BFBC1 not BF1942, BF2. For slower gameplay, prone, jets etc. you will have to wait till bf3.

i wish they'd make a coral sea type map and let all the jet whores do their thing amongst themselves.
