Dead Space Extraction Sells just 9K Units in September

Dead Space Extraction has reportedly sold about 9,000 units between its September 29 release and the NPD's reporting period which ended on October 3. The slow start was expected and came as no surprise to some.

EEDAR analyst, Jesse Divnich, explains that a lack of marketing really hurt EA on this title.
“Electronic Arts didn’t market Dead Space Extraction as much as it does with other titles. And the success or failure of a Wii title usually correlates directly to marketing spend. If Electronic Arts spent little on marketing, I am sure the sell through was no surprise to them. So I do not believe sell through was a disappointment to EA.”

“Given Wii games tend to have a flatter sales curve, I don’t think 20,000 plus units is out of the question for October and maybe we get a holiday bump in November and December,” Divnich suggested.

The game also failed to crack into various Top 40 lists in the UK sales charts. Dead Space Extraction is presently sitting at a 83 at Metacritic. The success of Dead Space Extraction may be the deciding factor on whether or not more Mature titles appear on the Wii from EA.

Hmmm, i guess i cant say that i even expected this, seeing as i have never even heard of this game. but 9,000 units is abysmal. i mean, i know its a weird comparison, but pokemon ruby sold 1,250,000 units within the first four days
