2,200 GameFly Games Stolen by a USPS Employee

A former employee of the US Postal Service admitted in district court on Thursday that he stole over 2,200 GameFly titles that were to be delivered to residents living in the Philadelphia area.

Reginald Johnson, 34, of Germantown, faces from 12 to 18 months in prison under preliminary advisory sentencing guidelines. U.S. District Judge Berle M. Schiller set sentencing for Jan. 13.

Authorities said Johnson was a mail-processing clerk who unloaded mail from tractor-trailers docked at the processing and distribution center in Philadelphia.

The feds said Johnson stole the video games, valued at $86,000, between April and September 2008.

Reports of missing games started to increase in the Philly area as far back as late 2007. When authorities went to arrest Johnson, he took off in his SUV only to crash it a short time later. He fled on foot carrying a duffel bag but was later found and arrested.

Inside the duffel bag were 81 GameFly mailings with another 79 mailings found inside a backpack within his SUV.

Also in the SUV were five Nintendo Wii Sports, three Wii Fits, a Playstation console, game controllers and receipts from a business called GameStop.

Johnson is currently an employee at Hatfield Quality Meats, but it seems as though his time there is quickly coming to an end as well.

This wasnt one though but many throughout a time period.

Also, with that kind of money involved AND it being federal mail, his life IS ruined.

Not play, it was a laundering scheme. You take your stolen games and trade them in for items that have higher value. You dump off 10 stolen games for one or 2 newer games. You then sell those off at a higher value and you do not have opened product or something with markings on them.
