Modern Warfare 2 on the PC "Officially" Not Delayed

In a brief interview with VG247, community manager for Infinity Ward, Robert Bowling, said that Modern Warfare 2 on the PC is not "officially" delayed.

Has the PC version been delayed?

Rob Bowling: Officially, no.

That begs the question though, what about the game being "unofficially" delayed? His response is rather suspect and open to interpretation. It could simply be taken that the PC version will come out day and date with the console version on November 10.

It could also mean that as of right now the game is not delayed on the PC. Hell, it could also mean that while Infinity Ward doesn't see it as being delayed it may be held back from release due to any number of factors.

What do you think the case is?

It should also be noted that there will be a Steam version released for Modern Warfare 2. Check out the rest of the VG247 interview while you ponder the above question.

A: I don't like how he qualified the statement with "officially." I can only think of one reason to qualify the statement in that way.

B: Saying "it's not officially delayed" is not the same as saying "it's officially not delayed." See the subtle difference there?

Why continue to remain ambiguous? And why hasn't anything been said on their official forums/site? There is a decently-sized segment of their prospective consumer base that is really feeling alienated and disillusioned right now. There are so many questions without real answers and little things would go a long way at this point in the game.

We know there will be a MW2 for PC. What I want to know is will there be a MW3 for PC?

The officially no statement is a way to back out when/if they have to delay it.

Why continue the ambiguity? Hype, get back at the years of PC smugness, love of xbox, because he can. It doesnt matter. Nothing will change from it. PC gamers will still feel shafted and consolers will still think its fair and everyone will still buy the game.

Withholding information on one platform won't build hype, it will hurt sales on that platform. Without a demo/beta or even minimum/required system specs, most PC gamers I know personally won't be buying this game until at least the first patch, if not later.
Throw in the other unknowns that have nothing to do with gameplay and everything to do with expected functionality, and I just can't see any benefit for them to have this attitude. They're pushing people, and in a direction they probably won't like. Then they're going to see decreased sales and cry about piracy and use it as justification for screwing with PC gamers in the first place.

I guess if you're saying he just wants to be a **** and knows he can get away with it, I guess you're right.

Its not the "Officially, no" and "Unofficially, yes" stuff that has me worried, its the fact that its under a month to go and there are no "official" system specs, anywhere.

IF its official not delayed, then you can unofficially declare that it will be released on time. It again sounds to me like IW is covering its ***. I think IW know it should be delayed but know the ramifications of doing so would be dire for the PC sales of the game and would only have us questioning them more.

Aww now i think thats a little harsh. I think Treyarch have done a fantastic job with the community, more than any game i have seen in past years.

Aww now i think thats a little harsh. I think Treyarch have done a fantastic job with the community, more than any game i have seen in past years.

TreyArch started out poorly, but raised the bar as things progressed. At this point, I think WaW is more balanced and has better gameplay than MW. And since both teams refuse to learn from each others' mistakes, MW2 looks like it's going to be a turd for at least a month or two. The attitude displayed by both teams is telling. TreyArch started off very arrogant, and they chilled out as things went along. Once they actually listed to people who weren't just spouting flames, the game improved a lot. Infinity Ward still think they're invincible. So they alienate a huge potential market, and they'll soon be crying about piracy and such because of it. WaW was pirated MUCH less than MW, and for multiple reasons. One was the authentication system with Demonware.

Activision spilled the beans on the PC delay and left Infinity Ward with the mess, I lol at lack of communication.:laugh:

Robert has no Idea if its delayed or not, he already said in a tweet that he wont know for sure untill he's back in the states the week of the 18th. Which means that by the time he finds out, the game will need to be done... that is if their true about the 11.10.09 release, which i doubt they are.
