    Modern Warfare 2 Multiplayer Interview

G4 had the good fortune to get a little hands-on time with Modern Warfare 2's multiplayer mode. In addition to some juicy new details from their experience, they also managed to chat up Robert Bowling and others at Infinity Ward.

    <object width="480" height="418" id="VideoPlayerLg41995"><param name="movie" value="http://g4tv.com/lv3/41995" /><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always" /><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true" /><embed src="http://g4tv.com/lv3/41995" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" name="VideoPlayer" width="480" height="382" allowScriptAccess="always" allowFullScreen="true" /></object>

With Modern Warfare 2's release rapidly approaching, I'm just going to go ahead and leave this friendly reminder about the MyIS server rentals and upcoming contest right here.

Yup. Perks get leveled up to Martyrdom Pro, Double Tap Pro, Steady Aim Pro. Yes. Your going to have to listen to people call themselves "pro" just because they unlocked the perk.

Does anyone else think they have taken the whole customization thing waaaay overboard now? This is sounding worse after each review. I'm of a mind not to get it now. Sure the SP will be good, but I can't justify spending $60 for that and a silly MP mode.

It may be a bit much. Its hard to say. If it was well thought out it may work just fine.

If they allowed like juggernaut to be upgraded so that you can survive 3 shots instead of 1, that might be a bit much, but if they did something like upgrade iron lungs to hold breathe longer or bomb squad that can diffuse betties, thats not so bad and could work.

Re: Modern Warfare 2 Multiplayer Interview

This is, in all honesty, what I predicted would happen. Similar to what I posted in the MW2 section a while back, I used to be one of the players who wanted a lot of customization, I wanted the game to be perfect for me and let me do whatever I wanted.

However, as I progressed through the game, I adapted to the weapons and no longer needed all those special perks - and this is the critical stage that most players don't want to accept. The increase in perks, attachments, and all the customization discourages players from actually adapting and learning the game and instead just focusing on their own class - ultimately making the game unplayable and unbalanced.

Thats a very good point. Now we are getting what we wanted.

We as in the gaming consumers, not you and I specifically.

And what is wrong with using "all those special perks"? They're a part of the game, and I'll use the perks I find effective, whatever others may think, even if they're called "cheap" or "noob". What is stopping you from adapting to the players who don't adapt and focus on their own special class?

I do hate the unlock system though. At the very least we should be able to choose what perks/weapons to unlock with unlock points, not have them preset like CoD4.

And my point is they shouldn't be. And why can't I adapt to them? It often becomes difficult to outplay a corner camping player with claymores, stuns, juggernaut, an rpd and martyrdom - not to mention a server full of them.

Well that's the way CoD is heading/has headed. I doubt we'll see another CoD2-like game again.

Discussion and speculation leads to hype..

Don't forget these guys are making this game with console gamers as their targeted audience so you will never get rid of the perks and streak bonuses etc.

Though leveling them up? that's just stupid.. Should still be a sweet game though, nothing will deter me from buying it.
