Rumor Update: The PC Release Date for Modern Warfare 2 is...

The release date for the PC version of Modern Warfare 2 is still very much up in the air. A recent Tweet by Infinity Ward's fourzerotwo seems to indicate that he's just as lost as we are when it comes to the PC version's release date.

I know our PC players are anxious for official word. I am as well. I will let you know as soon as I do. I promise. When I left, it was fine.

Remember that the last we heard about Modern Warfare 2's release date was that it was rumored to be pushed back until the 24th. The original release date was November 10, 2009, which is still the planned release date for the console release.

I'd still think it was merely a rumour if it wasn't for one thing.

Why has it taken so long for anyone remotely connected with IW/Activision to comment?!?

Surely if it was a load of rubbish the publisher and game developer would be denying it as soon as possible?!?!? I can't believe it's taken fourzerotwo this long to spot the rumours.

Exactly. I mean, I know Activision is a huge company with offices around the world, but does it really take 2 to 3 days for someone to say, "whoops, that was a typo?" or "Yep, while 402 was in gay paris, we found a problem that instantly threw everything back."

Maybe they dont have EMail at Activision, or phones, and the postal mail system does take a few days.

i think FourZerotwo is lying to prevent people flipping out more than they already are.

but at the same time if he is telling the truth then we at least know that the game is finished and/or its on time.

I have no idea why people are getting up in arms about this little promotional stunt by Electronic Theatre, they are simply trying to drive traffic to their site, simple as that. People go all crazy because ONE website says the PC version is going to be delayed. Well, I don't buy it...especially since the IW website had "November" spelled wrong on the PC release date, then fixed the spelling yesterday and did not change the 11.10.09 date for PC release. If it was in fact going to be delayed they wouldn't have fixed the spelling and not the date. So people, get over it and get ready for MW2!

Pretty much all the major news site reporting on this rumoured PC delay states Electronic Theatre as the source... they were the first and it really came out of nowhere. They're going to take a lot of crap if it's wrong, and I hope it is.

Ok lets look at this from a different perspective here, lets say that the PC version of the game HAS been delayed till the 24th, personally for me that isnt such a bad thing.

Why?

Because us PC gamers have sat around watching 360 demos and clips and various other console related material since the idea of the game first came about. We have been left in the dark over the PC version and havent heard a single word about it until now.

We all thought it would be delayed and i know there is a certain principal in the fact that being the PC market we got Infinity Ward where it is today, but personally, a week and a few days extra to wait?? I would say that we should be thankful the game is finished and dont have to read rumors about it getting pushed back till Christmas or Q1 of 2010 which is what many of us had feared.

I'm calling the store that i pre-ordered from: they have said thier new release calendar is in today and they will be able to confirm any change.

This will only apply to UK, but it should be a good enough indicator.

The other thing is that if this rumor is true then they will be releasing this game two days before thanksgiving, in the US, and three days before black friday. So why would IW put a game out before this day? It will be all hell and anyone who wanted to get it on this day possibly wont because it got delayed for pre-order gamers. Really there going to lose money from delaying it simple as that
