What's the difference? I have the same number of copies he does and plan on buying it from Steam as well. You asked (not by name) why someone would need so many copies and I provided some answers, though RangerXL may have additional reasons I hadn't even thought of.

Convenience mostly, plus the no disc thing. I mean I ripped the image a long time ago to use with Daemon, a lot less hassle with Steam.

Will it play on Windows 7? That would be the question.

This is probably cheaper than what they might charge over Steam.

Just because something is on Steam doesn't mean it works on Vista or 7, Red Faction 1 & 2 require hacks to work on 64-bit. But that said, I have been running purely 64-bit for over a year now (Vista then 7) and as I have mentioned I play 1942 when ever I get together with friends. Personally speaking we all have notebooks that can play BF2 on high fine, but we just haven't made the switch yet.

Whats is this all about.....I bought 1942 years ago and not even thought of playing it now as its just too old.

                      saying
"Money for old ropes" mean anything:shakehead:

as for the guy buying lots of copies.:yay: you win

It should only be done as a free download, asking for money for 1942 is just a down right shocking.

Why do they still charge for half life on steam? It will probably only be like, $5 at most, I see no harm in that.

Come ON people! BF1942 is irreplaceable. I can't believe how many posts I'm reading along the lines of
This game is a thing of the past
                          or
                          BF2 satisfies my needs
                          This game is too old
/facepalm. BF2 is only three years younger. It's sad that people honestly judge games this way, as opposed to ACTUAL GAMEPLAY.
                          Even,
I don't play this game anymore , but I'm glad people still play it
WHAT??? Check the serverlist, there like 600 servers and 800 people. PLAYERCOUNTS ARE DROPPING, THIS GAME WILL BE DEAD SOON. get some friends together, and play it while it lasts. I have a feeling a steam release would spike playercounts for a while. That'd be sweet!

I would buy this even though my copy is installed and ready to play. BF42 Complete Collection CD's (all seven of them) are notorious for scratching, at least in my case. I've bought BF42 3 times i think. ONE PURCHASE on steam guarantees you'll have the game forever, no matter what.

The low system requirements mean that just about any of my non-gamer friends could partake, plunging them deep into PC game addiction, as I was.

Yup i'd buy it but only if it wasn't any more than bargin basement price ie £4.99 I think at that price it would sell a few copies even to those who had it or like many still have it but with knackered DVD's.

Perhaps if it was £7.99 on its own or £14.99 when purchased with 1943 :) that might work.

I would, because I have lost the disk for BF1942 a long time ago.
