DC's heli rape was 100x worse than BF2. At least the AA is automatic and not just straight line missiles :p

I actually still have my original discs, but I know a ton of people who would jump all over this. EA really needs to make the steam features available to all owners though, or else its just pointless. I know I'd be playing 1942 all the time if I could link up with friends through steam.

DC heli rape was non existent mostly due to handheld AA which was able to take down every chopper with ease.

I remember being taken out with a stinger when going anywhere near an outpost with infantry running around.

Still play DC every time I get together with friends. An awesome game that will play on just about any notebook.

Nope, it's a game of the past now for me but its always nice to know new players are playing it.

I've got two copies of BF1942 and both expansion packs. I wish they would have released BF1942 on Steam already though, so I didn't have to bother swapping discs everytime I play Desert Combat and Battlegroup42. Perhaps down the road if it gets down to $5 I might take the plunge. The nice thing about Steam games is you can copy your games and profile subfolders to a USB drive, then simply copy it back after reinstalling windows - that can save days worth of downloading time.

Neither BFV, BF2 nor BF2142 were nearly as fun as BF1942 - improved graphics yes, but the gameplay was not as fun. I still love BF1942 and can't wait for BF1943, which I hope is similarly fun gameplay on a newer engine.

You can't expect as good gameplay from a game engine without the possibility to be on a moving object... no wing walking, no crowded transport planes or landing crafts for example...

Frankly speaking, I bought BF1942 for $10 off the bargain shelf and the complete collection of 1942 for $10, if they sell it on Steam for about $10 I would buy it, heck maybe even $20.

Being an old game, many of us have worn out our original discs. Also, it helps to have extra copies for friends/LAN parties. BF1942 is good for that because it will run on most machines these days - plus casual/occasional gamers usually don't care about the age of a game as long as it's fun.
