MW2 - To Buy, or Not To Buy?

I am at a crossroads here, at this very moment. I REFUSE to buy MW2 because of the ridiculous $10.00 price raise for the PC version of MW2 that hath cometh from the throne of the kings, Activision. I knew this time would come when I would have to make a true decision about my purchasing of MW2, when there would be a great price deal, do I take it?

Right now, Walmart.com has a deal on the PC version of MW2 for $49.82 PLUS a $10.00 eGift card which can be used on future purchases at Walmart.com. So, essentially, you are getting this game for $39.82 if you look at it with the future free money on their site. Also, the console regular versions of MW2 also receive the $10.00 eGift card, but the price is still $59.99.

This leads me to the question, should I buy MW2 with this deal going on at Walmart.com? For I have made my stand to boycott this game because of the price raise and my word means something to me, for what is a man if you cannot trust his word? Or should I take this opportunity to get the game at a lower price, for even if I only play the game for a while, at least then I will be able to better serve you, the CoD audience, as site director here because I too will have played the game allowing me to better relate to all CoD fans and the news that I post for MW2?

After these last couple of months, my disgust for Activision (and some for IW) has been building up along with many of you, I do not know if I even want MW2 anymore even if it is cheaper than usual with this promo. From what I have seen so far, is MW2 going to be anything more than CoD4.2? I mean, of course the singleplayer will be great, every CoD always has a short, intense, amazing singleplayer. But will I not quickly be disgusted with the same multiplayer from CoD4, but new weapons and maps? Can I handle once again playing my main multiplayer PC game where I die more from nades than bullets? And I will once again be playing a modern warfare game that seems to attract people who think they know everything about the real world weapon counterparts and have to show off their elite knowledge to everyone...

What will you do? Click here for a link to the Walmart.com deal for those who have chosen to get the game now with this price drop albeit from Walmart.com, not from Activision.

And I am not completely full of myself as I realize this post sounded somewhat pretentious, but it was more interesting, in my opinion, then just asking the question, "Should I buy MW2 y'all?"

Same, I'll be getting it eventually no matter what. Its a matter of what games everybody else is playing and how active it is, which MW2 will be very very active lol.

I'm from Australia so it will be $99.95 here if i bought it from EBGames
        http://www.ebgames.com.au/pc/product...efer=smallhero

Which is around 83 US. So when you think that 49.95 US is an expensive price, remember that some people spend a lot more for exactly the same product. Food for thought

Why buy it right away? Just wait a year or two to buy it.

Ahh...I see your conundrum there, JoMaMaz...a man is nothing without his word and his commitment to his word. A statement is a statement, no matter if whispered in the dark or shouted from the rooftops. You committed yourself to this boycott for in your mind it is just (and I somewhat agree with you - we've had enough of the corporate greed already). However...

I myself will likely give in and purchase a copy pretty quick (thanks for the WalMart link BTW :P ). I can't commit myself to a price boycott for I... I am weak, I would like this game. There...I said it.

IMHO, you somewhat hit on a tiny bit of responsibility (maybe a little too strong a word, but meh) as site director:
"...even if I only play the game for a while, at least then I will be able to better serve you, the CoD audience, as site director here because I too will have played the game allowing me to better relate to all CoD fans and the news that I post for MW2..."

Not a bad statement if you need something plausible to convince youself to purchase a discounted copy. So, go for it...be weak with the rest of us. You could always sell it (probably for your entire purchase price) a couple months later if you decide it's not your cup o' joe.

In the end its all about hours spent vs asking price. Asumin' that MW2 will be as good or better than COD4, players will have a very good price per spent hour. The whining and moaning about the opening retailprice is a very shortsighted argument...IMHO

If the retailprice in my country will as usual I'll be paying Approx. 85US.

sounds a bit spoiled. Its awesome to have different opinions but it just seems like you are trying a little hard to hate a small thing IMO (cant stress the IMO enough).

Yes. If anything the singleplayer experience makes it all worth while, in my opinion.

If money is tight, you could always wait for a price drop.

I'm with you KV. When you divide the amount of hours that you've played any video game into the retail price your talking a great entertainment value for pennies on the dollar. I've played CoD4 for over 300 hours and that is MP alone not counting the times I've played back through the SP game. That is roughly 16 cents an hour. Same with WaW and just about every other game. No other form of electronic entertainment carries the same value for such a low cost.

Well, these companies are catering to the console owners by getting the games, patches, map packs out before the PC owners. Why don't they spread the price increase out over the different platforms.

What perks or Special features do us PC owners get with MW2! NOTHING, maybe if they offered us something people wouldn't mind the increase. I don't own a "next generation" console, and probably never will!

I will most likely purchase this, but I will be looking to Walmart, because It always seems cheaper to purchase a game there

No, not at release. But I never buy anything at release, have saved me some money from disastrous games

The series is unfortunately moving further and further from what I find fun in CoD. I have no doubt SP will be cool though.
