Enjoy Battlefield 1943 Weapons in Bad Company 2

We reported on this a couple weeks ago when it was followed by a question mark, but now it has been confirmed by the Battlefield Blog. Looks like you will indeed be able to use some of your favorite Battlefield 1943 weapons in Bad Company 2. Here's the official word:

Why?

Owners of 1943 will have exclusive access to some of their favorite WWII-era weapons in the multi-player mode of Bad Company 2!

We can't wait to see how these decades old weapons will stack up against the latest and greatest of Bad Company 2.

We're in the process of finalizing exactly which weapons will make the jump, so vote for your favorite in the latest poll!

That sucks. It's stupid that there will be early 1900's weapons in a modern warfare game.

How can you even know since the game even isn't out yet. I for one look forward to this. It will add more strategic value to the game.

Will this be for the PC as well?

Whilst i'm not into PR style extremism, I do like some degree of realism... and be able to use WW2 guns in Bad Company pains me, it really does.

Maybe if they were allocated to a specific team (such as militias which do use WW2 rifles), that would go down, but the US army... wow.

It is a nice big immersion eater, having modern soldiers using ancient weapons. It's already enough that you can have whatever modern weapon you want, like use a PKM as a US soldier, but WW2 weapons, gah:shakehead:

You do realize the name of the game is Bad Company? The game does not revolve around any specific military faction of the United States, but rather this small company of misfits. Perhaps they simply couldn't get their hands on P90s, M16s etc, and are forced into using more "dated" weaponry.

Even older weapons can be lethal.

Call of Duty 4 had the MP44 available in multiplayer, I don't remember anyone complaining about how it ruined the realism.

I'm almost certain it's added to multiplayer because it's tied in with the singleplayer somehow. It seems kind of silly but it won't necessarily kill immersion.

Call of Duty 4 doesn't have MP40.

While I like the idea of using WWII era weapons in BFBC2 for the novelty of it, it's not that far of a stretch from using the M-60 in multiplayer like you could in the first BC. The M-60 is by no means a "modern" light machine gun.

Still it seems like harmless fun to me and a way to thank those that purchased BF1943.
