Although Flak Jacket was not used by many people (on PS3), I don't like what it hints at, it is suggestive of a game where the numerous tools of war (grenades, flashbangs, RPGs, claymores for example) are made redundant for the sake of balance.
Quoting some of my worries if they balance it Treyarch style. I was perfectly happy with CoD 4's balancing actually, the spawn points needed tweaking to remove the spawn killing, but overall it was fine.

I will say again, if the machine guns will only have 50 bullet mags, then they should not even be in the game. It removes the whole purpose.

Now, you might say that having 100 bullet mags will lead to spamming. However, spamming is what a machine gun is meant for (albeit not through walls at random), and if you do spam, your fire will not be very accurate.

Without a grip, your first two shots will be accurate, all after that will be quite spontaneous.

With a grip, perhaps up to your first five shots will be accurate, but you will lose any benefit you once had from a Tier 1 perk.

This is exactly what CoD 4 did, and it did it perfectly. WAW destroyed this.

A machine gun with a 100 bullet mag is not a super gun. If you want to hit anything, you will have to burst fire it, if you don't want people to cross the road, you lay down a large volume.

If you aren't even going to have magazine values and other qualities reflective of real life in the slightest, why even bother making the game with a present day theme?

As I have said before, since we all seem to want this game to be extremely balanced, why don't IW just remove every weapon apart from the M16? There, thats a fair fight, now the other guy can see the same distance as you and you both have a three round burst.

Dimwit, your explanation on Rio is fair enough. It seems a little odd that US forces are in Rio (US and British forces in Russia were quite believable due to the remote areas they fought in), but I guess we'll have to wait and play through the game.

Exactly, now that my system is dying because i installed a virus scanner that saps the life out of my PC, im thinking about getting a console so i don't have to spend 1000 euros just to get a PC that can go along with the ever growing evolution of PC gaming for more then 1 year.

OR, you could find virus software that doesnt take up all the resources or turn it off while gaming.

But, probably a new PC to run your virus software is the better idea.

You weren't called selfish for choosing not to upgrade. You were called selfish for demanding that everyone else be forced to play weak games because your computer can't display high-end graphics. If you can't afford to upgrade, play games from pre-2005 instead of demanding that everyone else be lowered to meet your budget.

instead of being @$$holes to each other - lets just demand more from gaming studios to allow new games to be played on older computer without sacrificing the ability to turn up all the options should you be a PC gaming enthusiast.

Because lets face it - people who demand that all new games be incompatible with older systems is why we are seeing PC gaming dying.

troybob, the fact that systems have to be upgraded now and again is not the only reason PC gaming is dying. There are a large number of reasons and though I believe the "high end" games on "outdated" equipment is one of them, its not the only one.

I know people who buy the WalMart machines and expect to be able to play Crysis on them and they dont and then its the games fault. I also know people with the high end machines who also cant play a game without it crashing all the time.

How low should a game go for people? I see people tweak their settings in 4/5 until they dont see grass or other objects that other people see. I guess thats OK?

BOT, from looking at the poll it looks like everyone expects a good game, but maybe its not on the top of everyones list?

while trying to avoid an argument as usual I'll come back with this response- I said nothing about limiting, I only said what Crunch said to allow lower-end systems to play the games. Please, I beg of you to read what I write.

That's the "heartbeat sensor" thingy. Basically, it can sense hidden enemies in the distance, sort of like UAV. Tom Clancy wrote about it yrs ago in his novel "Rainbow Six" (which was the base for the games that followed) when the team had to go into the jungle.

it's not that systems have to be upgraded now and again, its that people accept the fact that every holiday season the requirements for games change to the point where the minimum requirements the season before are now outdated.

This has become status quo as more and more breakthroughs occur on the development and GPU side.

The nice part about creating games for consoles is that they never change. if you want to put a new feature into a game, you can't just raise the specs to allow the feature to function, you have to be crafty and optimize the feature until it will work with the hardware at hand.

Consoles force developers to work within a certain set of limitations. That's a HUGE advantage to developers. This is why casual gaming is dead on the PC and hardcore gaming is all thats left. I got a kid now so I'm not sure how well I can keep up with hardcore PC gaming.

Right, I agree with everything you said, especially with the part about consoles never changing. You make a game for one Xbox or PS3 and you made the game for them all. Thats not entirely true for PC due to different hardware, drivers, OSes, RAM, etc...

Its not just consoles force developers with limitations but also sets up an easier way to make a game. Im not saying a game is easy to make, but look at the features on a PC game vs the same game on a console. There is usually a lot missing on the console.

Anyway, we are both agreeing on the same things, its just I do not think its just because people need more and more for a PC to play the game. Each year does up the requirments, there is no doubt about that.

Of course the minimum requirements are going to be outdated quickly. They're the minimum. The low end of the bar will be raised from time to time.

As technology advances, developers take advantage of the gains. Sure, they find ways to squeeze the same thing onto a console. But you have to compromise somewhere. Eventually, compromising on the PC either means you allow players the possibility of an advantage by lowering details past a certain point; or you make a cutoff and only allow the settings to drop so low, while raising the requirements a little bit. The alternative is total homogenization, and I don't think anyone really wants that. That way lies Iron Man PC, Incredible Hulk PC, and madness.

If you don't have anything better than a 7900GT (the highest GPU requirement I can remember seeing), you've probably squeezed enough years out of your hardware. Did you complain when games went from floppies to CDs? Did you complain when they made mice mandatory? Were you upset that your 20MB HDD, just fine for Win3.1, wasn't big enough to handle Win95?

I know some people are looking at this thinking that we're way off topic. Someone brought up the lack of a new engine. What, so more people can cry about requirements going up? Look at how people responded to the lack of SM 2.0 support in TreyArch's Call of Duty: World at War. "Oh noes, I can't turn off foliage and barrels to see and shoot people across teh mapz!!" At what point to we going to go ahead and write off older hardware as "legacy" and require people to move up from the PS2 in order to play PS3 games?

EDIT: This thread has had about 700 views since I posted this, but no responses. Why is that?
