    CoD6:MW2 Will Arrive in 2009!

That's right jarheads, Call of Duty's next installment of war glory, CoD: Modern Warfare 2, made by Infinity Ward, will be exploding on the scene for the holiday season of 2009. Read below:
During an Activision Blizzard earnings call earlier today, CFO Thomas Tippl announced that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will be released this holiday season.

We really don't know any specifics about the game at this time, such as whether or not it's a direct sequel (or prequel?) to the first or if any of the characters from CoD4 will be returning.

Well, I know we have MANY CoD4 fans here at TotalCoD, what is your opinion on what the game's storyline will entail?

Thanks to CoD:HQ for the news.

If they make it a sequel, then it would be just after the Nuke was launched, and there would be an all out war... it'd basically be World War 3, as designed by IW...

If they make it a prequel, then it could be around the time Cpt.Price had to snipe that guy and only got his arm... we didn't know too much about that time, and we don't know if that guy responded - since I doubt he'd just hide away and do nothing for a few years with a missing arm...

    Therefore:
    Sequel = bigger battles
Prequel = possibly more stealth missions

I'm kind of hoping for a sequel, that way while they build bigger SP battles they will 'most likely' also build bigger MP battles, since every CoD has used MP maps based on the SP levels. If the SP levels were huge open battlefields, then they will probably base the MP levels on the same thing... and bigger battles in MP is win, it'd make Call of Duty more like Battlefield in terms of 'big battles' - but without as much vehicles...

lets hope they don't rush it. Although my cod account balance seems empty for nothing after CoD5...

"Holiday season" 2009 will be 2 years since COD4 came out.

CoD5 took 2 years, and that felt rushed.

          it's just my opinion ;P

@Dan, it wouldn't be WWIII, the terrorist country set off the nukes, and the russian ultra nationalists fired nukes at the USA. So it would be very much the same storyline as cod4 imo.
but otherwise I argree, stealthing around in a squad with Cpt. Price (like most CoD games >=P) is always good fun:)

COD:W@W was a little rushed because IW wasn't very helpful in giving TreyArch access to their work. MW2 will be building on all of the experience and lessons learned with COD4, so they won't be as likely to make the same mistakes again. TreyArch also wanted to prove that they don't need IW, so they are refusing to use IW's fixes and learn their lessons. So some of the things that were fixed in COD4 are still problems with W@W. I doubt MW2 will go through quite so many growing pains.

If that logic is true, which I believe it to be also since they're using the same engine I assume for the new game, then Treyarch's next CoD would be even better also.

Ok, first my heart ALMOST stopped when I read Unnameds comments

I think UA is 100% correct in his thoughts. Treyarch made some of the EXACT same mistakes IW did with CoD4. A few extras, but who is to say IW didnt figure it out before release? I think it is very obvious Treyarch went it alone, for whatever reason, I dont know.

As for the plot, its not going to be nuke again. Its going to be bio-agent. More covert stuff and US screwing the pooch, as Yahtzee says

Oh, and its going to pick up where the last airplane scene left off.

MAYBE the bio-agent is a secret Nazi experiment with Zombies that were found and it causes an outbreak.

Nazi Zombies vs World, Although the zombies are infinite and you can only face them in a small building with three friends.

What if the zombies weren't infinite...you actually had to kill the infected planet Earth's population of zombies, 5,999,999,997, and it was just the 3 of you last on Earth? And you know, people would eventually do it. They may die of dehydration, but they would complete the game first! :p

I so agree. There are so many interesting areas where major conflicts could be that limiting to the middle east yet again is kind of lame. It worked great for the first one but IMO I vote South America and Europe.

The nuke angle is played already so in this one it could be some sort of biological black death kind of story. Bio weapons are worse IMO than Nukes because some crazy virus that we have no immunity to could wipe out most of the entire world if it spread.
