Oh man, has anyone seen the noobtube interview? The DICE guy comes right out and says they are focused on the console market, not the PC. The interviewer presses him on it and end up disappointed.

Near the middle, you'll see this:

Interviewer: What about those of us that have played BF for 10 years? How is this going to compare?

Dice guy: Uhhh, well being that our focus is on the console platform...I think thats where we'll get the biggest response....

I hope that some other company will do better. Until that I will stick with BF2 mods.

You're missing the point even on "teamwork" servers I was finding this almost impossible because people were unaware of what class did what and I or many would be left stranded or die because people weren't doing their jobs in a certain class... thats all I am saying

I'll be enjoying a pretty cool looking game and fun game when this comes out and you'll be waiting for the next instalment and probably just get upset at that too.

Its brilliance for them to do this. If you think a corporation is out to get you or "Dumb-down" a game, then don't buy it. It's pretty simple.

The real BF Fans would actually buy this game in support of the franchise. Hence the word "fanatic".

I wont buy this to show hope I believe they are heading in the wrong direction for the series, not that anybody gives a toss. Nobody is asking for a free game, I may be wrong, but the general consensus from the pc market seems to want the next battlefield to improved on what the previous titles were all about, all out war, that is what battlefield has done and continue to do, there are few other games that cover nearly all aspects of war, i.e inf, air, vehicles, teamwork, commander etc etc. People dont expect to see less classes, less maps, less teamwork, less vehicles and so on, its trying to do the same as bf2/1942 has done but on a dumbed down and smaller scale, we want to go forwards not backwards. Ah well, time to wait and see if Red orchestra 2 comes out, or if bf3 ever comes along.

There's a difference between "fanatic" and "sheep"

I am a BF fanatic. I have screenshots of BF2 on the wall in my living room and screenshots of DC on the wall in my master bedroom. This is called selling out.

I just don't understand how anyone can play BF1942 and then actually support where DICE is going. Tell me: were you a "fanatic" back in '02?

And this is just in case anyone forgot what the BF series is all about:

epic arcade/strategy gameplay.

Not just an arcade game that is too much of arcade.

I have experienced lot of very nice teamwork while playing BF2. If there is no teamwork then its not the games fault if ppl play it wrong way.
The point is: if you get all the tricks mastered with one day or week you will get bored soon.

The BF2 brought VOIP and squad system and better graphics which was big step ahead. 1943 seems like one step ahead and two steps back. The word
epic comes to mind if I recall BF42. But I read the news about
BF1943, then teletubbies and bubble guns suddenly comes to my mind :dead:

I think that MODs brought out the true potential and essence of BF42 and BF2.

Im still happy with BC coming on PC but it wont be a substitute for BF3 for sure.

Hi everyone. Gustav Halling here from BF1943 developing team at DICE
The post on my blog have been updated since I noticed that some phrases I wrote have caused some confusion, I blame my sometimes bad english =)
And the fact that totalbf2.com copied my whole blog post without my permission. They should have LINKED instead so everyone can read the right revision of the post!

BF1943 does NOT use "laser bullets" or rayguns.
The recoil system is made to simulate "real recoil" and makes each bullet follow each other in a pattern instead of being randomized in a big circle like in many other games.

If you feel that anything I wrote in my blog post is unclear, post a comment at my blog and I will make it clear for you=)

I wonder who's the new guy that's EP on battlefield franchise, Ben Cousins didn't last too long.

Maybe they can add in a hardcore mode to BF1943 for PC gamers, bring back limited
health kits and ammo crates where you have to resupply from (among other tweaks).

The game would need more than a realistic gritty look to the graphics to set it apart from BF:Heroes.

Console excuses... Nowadays you have PC´s and bandwidth that can take that with 64 players, it´s the minimum on a true BF game... Plus, in the future PC will have even better performance, you can buy a dual core with good graphics and memory quite cheap, again, poor excuse imo.

A timed replenish system after you've expended all your ammo, so you have to wait a few seconds, instead of running to an ammo crate or begging and pleading to a so-called "Support" class for 10 minutes so he gives you damn ammo box? Excellent. :p

Same with health system, again so I don't have to run around begging and pleading to a so-called "Medic" for a health satchel. Sweet

Great... So now you don´t have to be carefull where you walk, it´s run and gun, kill the opponent and wait for your magic body to get full health again, awesome no doubt...:shakehead:
You don´t even have to be carefull how many bullets you use, just spray, you just have to change the magazine and voilá, magic sport willy bag that has neverending ammo...
Sorry, it´s just dumb.

Everything is destructible to an extent and this is why its a third the size in players so this "does" run smoothly? Awesome! :yay:

Same answer for the first part, PC have better performance and bandwidth, plus can be upgraded, poor excuse imo...
Read the answer above without "bold".

I find it funny that in 2002, when there were only single cores with less performance, max 1gb memory, less bandwidth they came up with a game that many game companies said it was "impossible", what 64 players, vehicles open to everyone, massive scenarios? No way! Too laggy and performance crappy.

Well, EA gave them a chance and look what it came out? A game that was really DIFFERENT, FUN and that promoted TEAMPLAY, and it´s still played today.
A bit arcadey in my opinion, no doubt, but still awesome, I played it for years before some mods came out and made it even better.

So... Do you really think the core players that love BF1942 will buy this? Sorry, I prefer proper player amount, proper classes that don´t do everything, i prefer to bleed and die when i´m not smart enough to choose a proper location to attack, i prefer movable ships, I prefer to have to shoot properly or waste all my ammo.
This is to me a proper BF franchise game, not this "new" game that has "something" similar to BF1942.

And yes, tell me that i´m whining, it´s my right i guess, like someone said before and totally agree, I love the BF game series, but "liking the game doesn't mean we have eat up anything they throw at us and love it."

Sorry for the long rant, but this franchise is going down the drain in my opnion.

No BF1943 won’t have either.

* BF1943 uses a regenerating health system

I have a fantastic computer... But in this day and age we are forced to updated our PC everytime something new comes out?

I completely understand what you are saying but I wll take gameplay over graphics anyday and this looks like it has it... If they want to put out a quick "Hold me over until" game the next big BF franchise game, good for them.

Remember this is a downloadable game... it doesn't mean theres not going to be additional content for it.

It just seems like theres more pessimism about this because people are afraid of change or playing a game thats not "so real" to begin with... BF42 was far from "real", it was in fact easy for anyone to join up and play, much like this installment.

Too early to tell imho.

Again, I will be "eating it up" while it sounds like most of you continue to rant on a forum :), no harm no foul man, this is exactly what forums are for. :salute:

I don't think client computers are the problem when trying to run high intensity game platforms such as Frostbite, more the dedicated servers that have to run the games.

Servers will often run multiple instances of a game, maybe 5 servers per box. Making a highly intensive game may mean the servers could only handle 1-2 instances. This is turn would either force ISP's to buy more servers (which often have a payback period of months).

When revenue is so scarce, buying equipment with such a long payback period can be daunting. You must also consider the overhead costs and externalities associated with buying new hardware. You have to store it, keep it cooled, perhaps even employee more staff?

Therefore, specifications that may suit a PC might not be feasible for GSP's. I'm not saying this is the case, i'm just pointing out that there are other issues surrounding bringing out new games.
