Same with health system, again so I don't have to run around begging and pleading to a so-called "Medic" for a health satchel. Sweet
For me it sounds like noobs paradise because it all means less teamwork. I mean anybody can call arty strike...:dead:
Those kind of games are fun to play couple of times but it will wear off very quickly and will get very repetitive. I mean there is no challenge, no tactical, no mental or any other.

I hope that some other company will do better. Until that I will stick with BF2 mods.

What qualifies as a REAL BF fan then?

I am very excited for BC2 on PC, as long as it's a good port and not watered down. I have played all of the earlier BF games... BF2 and 2142 for many hundred hours.

Look at mirrors edge. That's a great example of a really good console port.

My biggest gripe is the replenishment system, this was exactly what happened with call of duty once the console got hold of it.

To have players run away from you and hide when they're on their last legs is rather annoying to say the least - surely BF could make a stand against this, even have a compromise, e.g. once you've killed someone they drop a health pack for you to replenish yourself, a reward for the kill rather than rewarding scurrying away

There are other points besides but I think most have / will be mentioned by real BF old school fans

CoD2 had the health regeneration, and that game was never made with consoles in mind, even if treyarch did a half-arsed port of it later.

            A real BF fan wants:

            1. 64 or more players (in line with what made the previous games great)
            2. Tons of vehicles
            3. More than 2 armies
            4. Lots of realistic weapons
            5. A mix of realism and arcade play (more on the realism)
            6. A challenging game that stresses teamplay to win.
            7. Lots of large, sprawling maps

If I wanted to play console games, I'd buy a console.

R.I.P battlefield franchise as we know it.........to me battlefield IS at least 40 players on huge maps slugging it out with all kinds of vehicles..........ohh god how i hope this is just a frostbite engine test bed..........just remember, dice knows the cash is in the consoles because most parents will buy their kids anythng to shut them up for few hours and when you have to develop/dumb down a game so it can be played on a console containing 4 year old hardware PC gamers will always suffer. lets just hope they at least optimize it and it isnt some GTA4 nightmare in the performance department because im getting scared only seeing xbox 360 gameplay..........

Why so negative folks? Look, we were all wanting BF3 to be announced but it's good news to get TWO Frostbite engine Battlefield games announced for PC to whet our appetite for when the "real" Battlefield game gets here. I'm sure it will be everything we want including more than 24 players for PC -they mentioned the 24 player was a cap due in part to console network limitations.

I'm not really interested in BF:H which is built on 2142's engine, but getting my hands on a Frostbite engine game really interests me and they probably figure they can sell 1943 better since it'll be our first chance on the PC to experience it. I haven't read much on BF:BC2 yet, but that'll be modern warfare with Frostbite goodness and I can't wait for that either!

                  Dude, read the thread...

We are negative because none of these games resemble a BF series game. Maybe you love console games, great. Most BF players aren't console gamers.

Very nice list! This sounds what the core of game should be and then add some new innovations(destroyable terrain etc...).

                      I agree 100%

The main reason I played BF2/2142 more than COD4 was the larger maps and 48/64 man servers. A max of 24 players along with the 'dumbing down' of other bits of the game is a step backwards and very disappointing imo.

I hope I am wrong and the game is great, but right now I just can't see it.

*Starts a petition to get Dronetek hired on at DICE for BF community manager*

Oh, and lol @ the people excited about this game thinking it's a holdover until BF3. If you like this game, then fine, but don't expect this to be a segue way into anything more. We can all hope for BC2 to be the messiah, but truthfully that's more than a little naïve. If there is ever a BF3 as we are all hoping it to be I will be the first to admit my error, but my gut is telling me we've seen the last of the epic PC BF games, at least from DICE. Perhaps some other company will take the idea and run with it, and then maybe we can get a couple good games out of them before they're gobbled up by a money-hungry juggernaught corporation.

However, I will say that by buying BF1943 and giving money to the idea all you're doing is feeding the beast - your wallets will tell EA/DICE that they can make money, even if it's just $10-$20, with only three maps, three classes, two armies, and 24 players. If they can crank two or three of these out per year, that's $20-$60 per year, as opposed to the $50 they got in four years out of people who are still playing BF2. Was BF2 a better game than this tripe? Unquestionably. But which of the above two scenarios makes more sense if you're a corporation?

Has there been any mention of how much this 3 map game (what have you done for me lately DICE) will cost us? I seriously don't think that DICE is going to give us a break...........just my opinion.

Another point on cost - I hate downloadable content that costs, it basically means you can't sell it on. I have a few games from a certain platform (boiling water) that are to all intents and purposes dead but I'm stuck with an electronic version that I can't sell.

I know you don't get a great lot for 2nd hand games but its always nice to have the option

iQu'e: point taken, original CoD was the best though imo. My point in general was about console ports

I own all of the consoles and a PC... you can't single out people like that its narrow-minded.

Besides companies like this do business to sell games on all platforms so they can actually make money... Its a crazy concept I know. :p

Some PC users are under the impression that companies "owe it to them..." to release games like this for free. Now that is funny...
I'll be enjoying a pretty cool looking game and fun game when this comes out and you'll be waiting for the next installment and probably just get upset at that too.

Its brilliance for them to do this. If you think a corporation is out to get you or "Dumb-down" a game, then don't buy it. It's pretty simple.

The real BF Fans would actually buy this game in support of the franchise. Hence the word "fanatic".
