WW2 game meh... Frostbite engine has so much potential and we get this? WW2 has been done before and has been done better I don't see anything this game can introduce which hasn't been done in COD series BF1942 MOH Brother in Arms.

This is the BF3 everyone has been waiting for? I wont fool myself to think they will be releasing anything else. It's defiantly not anything that a hardcore PC gamer, or at least myself will be looking forward to. I'll buy it probably play it as much as BF2142and come back to Battlefield 2.

Im almost 100% sure there will be no BF3 for PC, otherwise whats the point of releasing bad company 2 for PC? Most likely it will have exactly the same player limitations as bad company 1 and bf1943 since it will be more or less a straight console port. EA/DICE has gone same way as all other game makers, they make the games for consoles and port them to PC. We havent seen a bf game with mod support since bf2 and i highly doubt they will change this policy. Farwell Battlefield it has been nice knowing you.

        WW2 WOOOHOOO!!!! YEAH!

i was getting tired of the modern combat of BF2... it was about time we saw WW2 with a new engine.

this looks freakin amazing, i just wish it was a complete game with more maps and players per map.

still, i'm loving how it looks.

are the bombers in the end the WW2 version of the commander artillary strike?

you can deslike this game for many reasons but everything you just said there is just plain wrong.

COD and MOH dont have vehicles like BF, and 1942 has a very outdated engine.

you had BF2 not along time ago with a good engine, why should the modern combat fans have all the fun? why should the WW2 fans be kept on the side?

          Good server browser

And they went the exact opposite way with BF:1943 and BF:BC2 :|:

I'll stay optimistic though because I'm almost sure we haven't heard all of the story yet. I mean, the thing was just announced.
I know, it's very disappointing. It's like they're completely oblivious to the popularity of BF2, and what is said on forums like this, and even their official forums.

It's not even the WW2 setting that bothers me. It's the fact that this is exactly what people DID NOT want the next PC BF to be. I'm not even going to touch this game unless somehow they change their course of action and make this game for 64+ people big maps, vehicles, etc. oh and not to mention PC EXCLUSIVE. Multiplatform was the biggest mistake they could have possibly made.

Why are we going backwards in technology?

            strange,

BF 1943 says: Xbox LIVE Arcade, PlayStation Network and on PC for download

and BF:BC says: PlayStation®Store, Xbox LIVE™ Marketplace and on the PC.

does this mean that 1943 is a free game like heroes?

being such a limited game when it comes to player ammount and no server browser, i'm guessing it would make sense.

they could recicle old maps some old textures and add a little more detail to some old 3d models and import everything to the new engine, like they did with the old official WW2 vietnam mod.

my guess is BF3 is BF:BC2. modern combat, right? i can't see them releasing BF:BC2 on PC and also having a BF3 title.

That's a good point, and if it's free then that's fine. At least then we'd know it wasn't the official "BF3". It would be on top of the free games list (at least, from what I've seen in screenshots/videos) because when it's free, you can lower your standards. But if this game is going to retail for $50, then LOL

I think if it's free, that would be phenomenal. At least then they could make a REAL "BF3" with what the majority wants; 64+ players, huge maps, loads of vehicles/guns, modern warfare, etc. while still keeping the WW2 community happy with this 1943 game.

I don't really think that's fair to say. The graphics, at least the screenshots, do look quite nice (haven't seen the trailer yet...don't wanna do it at work ), I'd personally be in favour of a WW2 game; so long as it's done well I'll take just about any time period, and BF1942's engine is quite outdated; having played the campaign mode just a week ago (home internet access was out) the advances made between it and the BF2 engine are very noticable. BIFF did mention that so long as it has bigger maps and more player slots it would be awesome and I'm inclined to agree. If it's hard-capped at 24 and we either have smaller maps to compensate or sparsely-populated normal-BF1942-sized maps then it's going to be a shipload of fail.

nooooo, the old BF as you know and love is most probably still unanounced, they said they had 5 BF games being made, dont forget that there are still 2 games to announce.

i'm simply happy because it gives me the possibility of playing WW2 BF again in a new engine.

*edit: thanks for clearing that out wolf :)

Has not Wake Island been on like BF2, BF 2142 and half the MOD's out there? :p

It has become the Battlefield equivalent of Halies Comet, you just know that if you wait long enough, someone will make it for the new Battlefield game.

i really doubt that if this game isnt free, that it would cost the price of a full game.

if its ment to be sold, i'm betting at a max of 20€

i wonder if they plan to do it like Blizzard with starcraft 2 and separate the game into 3 different games, 1 for pacific, 1 for europe and 1 for africa, but each at 20€.

i dunno, my head is just spinning with ideas of what is happening :P

Re: Battlefield 1943: Pacific Officially Announced

Okay, I broke down and watched the trailer (*peeks over shoulder to make sure boss isn't watching *) and I'd have to agree with BIFF, that does look farkin' awesome. But the 24 player thing is going to be a deal-breaker. Notice how they showed all the aircraft (yay for being raped by aircraft ...at least the Flak should be more effective than 'smart' AA missiles *crosses fingers*); they showed three bombers at the end, and various fighters throughout. Now assume that you're going to have just two bombers and one fighter per team. Each bomber in BF1942 could hold two people, so we'll just stick with that for now. That's five people up in the air at once. Now, throughout that whole map, there will be a total of seven of your guys on the ground. If you've played Guadalcanal for 1942, you'd know that seven ground troops would make for one HELL of a boring game. So if the aircraft are going to be as numerous as they seem to be showing in this game, then either it's basically going to be a dogfighting sim where you'll come across more aircraft than you will tanks or infantry, or the maps will have to be small enough to make it seem like 7-9 enemies on the ground is a lot. And 9 is not even a lot on Camp Gibraltar. =/

That 24 player thing is really going to kill this game for the PC market, far more than any time-period setting ever would.
