Castlevania Movie on Hold Due to Threat of Strike

A potential strike by the SAG (Screen Actors Guild), has once again put production on the Castlevania film on hold. Last year, production was delayed thanks to the Writers Guild of America. This potential strike by the SAG has "derailed" the movie indefinitely.
"This year has been unbelievably chaotic for the film industry with the writers strike followed by the perpetual threat of a SAG strike. It's one thing if you're making a huge movie where you have $200 million and you say, 'Oh, [expletive] it. There's a SAG strike. We'll just wait.' For other movies it's very difficult to go into production if there's a threat that you'll have to close down," Anderson explained. "Not many movies can afford to take the hit of putting the cast and crew on hiatus for months while the strikes gets resolved. So I think in terms of anything we're developing there won't be any sort of priority until the SAG strike is resolved."

Anderson, who has previously directed such sterling game-to-film adaptations as Mortal Kombat and Resident Evil, was this time only set to produce the Castlevania film, with Sylvain White (Stomp the Yard) set to direct.

Perhaps this looming strike and the indefinite postponement of the Castlevania movie is all for the best. With how lackluster recent game to movie adaptations have been, we may have been spared a truly horrific experience.

As above, movies based on games generally are pretty bad...but the animated Simon Belmont in the old Saturday morning "Captain N" cartoons was hilarious.

Another strike? These guys are going to turn movies into baseball. I could understand a strike if they were helping make one blockbuster after another.

I will stick with the cartoons Whiskey mentioned

You have to admit though, the canon from Castlevania could serve as great material for a movie. I kind of want to see it. There's no way it could suck too much if Uwe Boll isn't in charge.
