Rhino, unless you can bottle time, most people won't play PR. Simply too time-consuming in my opinion (either wait for the A-10, or get blown up a thousand times groundpounding). The maps are good, but unless you fast-forward the game 10 times, most people are simply not into it that much, and past players (like me) slowly move on to greener pastures.

I love how you guys get an interview with DICE and all we got was fish. I appreciate the time you guys put in to getting the interview, but it looks like a complete wash. Anyone who has played any of the mods of custom maps, knows this new map is low in quality. You ask all those question and not a single one about the only thing anyone cares about, BF3.

Nice try, but i cant help but feel cheated somehow.

how do you feel cheated? They are offering a new patch with new "free" content. That's "win" in my book.

Also how can you judge a map that you have not played?

If you used your head instead of being childish and demanding info on BF3, you might realise that BF3 doesn't officially exist.

For that reason they can't comment on it, they can't even talk about it as if it were to exist. There would be no point us sitting there for an hour going "where's BF3, where's BF3, where's BF3... you owe me BF3!". You will hear about it straight from EA/DICE first.

Before running your mouth of, think about what you are saying, it might help you one day

If DICE wanted to give us any info about BF3, you can bet your *** it'd be on the front page of TBF2 in massive red letters and Idaeus would get every detail of it. As it stands, DICE hasn't officially announced anything to anyone, so all BF3 questions are met with a "We cannot confirm or deny, blah blah core audience blah blah PC blah blah future projects."

And why are you guys judging an unfinished map by its screenshots? I'm sure if PR posted a mod update with some screenshots of a new map they were working on, and someone immediately went and declared the map to be rubbish, Rhino would be pretty damn pissed. :p

Awesome work on the interview, Idaeus. Sucks that the BF2 patch keeps getting pushed further back though.

well that wouldent happen cause Rhinos maps rock? so...

and i agree, that map = fail. ive made better maps. animated fish after 3 years?...that pretty much sums up the 'new content' we'll recieve. the saying is, nothing in this life is free, so basicly we aint getting anything new content wise. unless we pay for it, like AF and EF.

the new map i dont consider new content, as its nothing new, just more recycled objects weve seen on 50,000 BF2 maps. if you JUST play BF2, then sure its probably new content to you, but for the 80% of people that continue to play BF2 due to mods, there is alot better content being released by mod teams, than the actual game Devs.

                    epic failure.

good job on fixing the commander hacks though, i hated that crap.

Looks really cool. Hopefully the map will become popular like Karkand. By the looks of it, it will be infantry only... and finally a PLA versus USMC infantry only.

However, did those screenshots have to be taken at 800x600, 0xAA, 0xAF and medium settings?

You get told that you are going to get something for nothing and manage to somehow slip in a complaint? :p

I remember some of the 'love' we got from some of the community when Wake 2142 came out. Like it or not we did put a lot of time and effort into that map and we did intend for it to be fun for all, not just the high rankers.
I would never take part in the creation of a ranked map again unless i was personally paid an excessive amount of money. It is neither quick nor easy, you cant be right and there are no rewards for bothering.

A commercial company prepared to take up such a gauntlet for free deserves your every praise. The map wont be right and it wont be of the quality you wanted and they wont have spent as much time on it as you would have liked.
Who gives a ****, at least they are trying.

As for BF3..... errrm.... hmmm... errrm.... what are you asking?
Are you really asking why a commercial company would be giving away free updates so long after a game release if they werent trying to retain a customer base for future use?

btw, i still havent got a call from DICE so i think the Fish thing must be a rumour.

More like 80% of people play BF2 because of stats/rankings.

id tend to agree with the general consensus that the map looks very dull and plain compared to what the community has been putting out as of late but on the other hand its a 3 year old game that cost less than $10, i guess we cant look a gift horse in the mouth. lets just hope this one isn't plastered with intel logos all over.............

I am with Rhino on the quality of the map from the screen shots. It is free and that is great but so are mods and they have produced quality maps that push the BF2 engines limit and IMO blow away the Dice maps.

Glad to see Dice still supporting their game, wish they had supported the mods and lets hope this next patch does not screw up the mods in the process.

Too early to see if the map actually looks good or not. Look at the screens for BF2, no AA and it looks like the guy is playing the game on all low.
