Ok, no more BF......err....the next one,.....can I start speculating about BF16? Rumor has it its going to be an intergalactic free for all with a million players online and dinosaur people or Xenon 7 Vs the Chicken horde of Valeria, oh and it's going to be a hologram IN REAL TIME!!!!

ok hopefully this will put some complainers to rest. they already said they haven't forgotten the hardcore PC players.

map looks fun except for the fog but Id be more excited about a nicely balanced air map, looks like theres some cranes in there, reminds me of SF

I agree with rhino at the same time too coz I know hes made some high quality maps but we have to remember, not everyone can play the game on high settings, Im sure some of those maps in those mods increase recommended requirements for the game to run nicely

you can tell dice are trying and I like how they still care about the game, love that they animated the fish lol, Id love to see some new easter eggs in the game

For the record, all of these types of interviews do have ground rules, and while I can't say what they were for obvious reasons, but violation of said rules would have resulted in Idaeus being asked to leave or us not being permitted to return at some point in the future. They would not answer those types of questions, even if we asked. And hey, in this world, good behavior is rewarded.

One of the questions people have been wanting to know for the longest time is the jet balance. I made sure that question got into the interview list because it's what people want to know; we were invited on the basis of asking questions about the new patch and general BF franchise information. The fact that they didn't speak much about new technologies being integrated into the franchise should be a red flag that they're not speaking much about upcoming projects which are as of yet unannounced (which was specifically why I requested that question be included). Tact is required when conducting interviews; everyone needs to walk away satisfied.

Aside from that, "It's done when it's done." They don't have the game enough in stone yet to release any details because as we all know, when features are dropped from the final game, that tends to make people angry, doesn't it?

Ah, you know, I regret not getting someone to ask about that (air power on the new map). It'd be nice to have an infantry-based map with attack choppers, kinda like Sharqi/Kark mix.

I can't hold back, Just reading through these post's by all these mindless people, it baffle's me that you come into these Forums, where you can find the answers to questions that you as an individual could never have achieved without TBF's help. And than ***** and compain that it is not good enough for you. But the part that get's me the most, is you all still play the game. Regardless if it is Vanilla or MOD's, if you hate the game so much, or you are just that dissatisfied move on, you are not hurting anyone's feelings.

A little hint for all the haters out their.. YOU ARE NOT DICE. and YOU CANNOT CHANGE IT, unless you are modding, even than you are still limited to the engine.

Be grateful on what you are getting, they are actually giving us more 3.5 years into the game, than it is even worth anymore.

Officially, BF3 does not exist. Any questions that TGN has asked about BF3, have been met with a blank stare and "We can't comment on that."

best solution for the map would be something like daqing but more exciting, its balanced for everyone, air, armor, and infantry

but then again, anything is refreshing

The contents of this interview were actually kept secret from most of the staff (including me for a good while) until release date to minimize the potential for leaks. Alex was farming for answers the whole time (and failing quite miserably, might I add). It was cute to watch.

This I can confirm is true. All the staff found out about this news when it was posted here not before we did know about the trip but that was it, and it was well worth it look at all the great info and conversation that has arising out of it. :thumbsup:

But has the release date for the beta patch changed? A while back they said it would be out before Christmas and in that article it said early 2009...

The beta would be for everyone that wants to install it, the more people that do the better feedback we get and we don't have an update 1.30 again. That update alone set us on the road of public beta to stop it from happening in another update. The plan is to get it out before Christmas yes.

As the BF2 1.5 patch beta won’t be out until early next year and the 2142 1.51 patch will arrive after that, we still have a little bit of waiting to do.

Early 09 could mean late January, or early February. That's like a month and a half as opposed to a couple weeks when they first announced the beta.

Anyone who has played any of the mods of custom maps, knows this new map is low in quality.

Though as said above I don't like PR that much, I remember PoE having nice maps. Keep in mind the Dice guys set the standard, and that the mod teams raised it. Not the other way around. They also had to make it perform on as many types of computers as they could without killing the detail, which is probably a pretty hard task. Gotta give them some credit for at least putting this out, no one said they had to.
