If you're one of the many early adopters of the PC version of Grand Theft Auto IV, you have have been a little less than pleased with how the "port" was handled. Lucky for you, Rockstar has announced that a patch is in the works and should be available within the next few days.
Given that the game is a Games for Windows Live title, the patch must pass certification at Microsoft, otherwise it probably would have been released already.
The team has also worked on certain issues with power management software, the Rockstar Social Club "Mma10" error, and other issues. They have also worked with both Nvidia and ATI to release new video drivers that should help out performance some.
* A fix to the crash after legal screen that some German customers were reporting.
* Numerous improvements to the video editor: Smarter naming of videos, improved rendering quality, better fx during replays
* Fix to bowling while using certain sensitive mice
* Fix for ATI 1900 shadows
* Overall savings to memory
* Graphic improvements to particle systems and mirrors
* Multiplayer character settings are preserved
* Support for DirectInput controllers. Note: The current hack way of supporting these controllers may not work with the improved functionality. So we recommend you remove the hack before upgrading to the patch.
