DirectX 11 Confirmed for Windows 7 and Vista

Ben Basaric of Microsoft confirms that DirectX 11 will be released with Windows 7. However, unlike the case with DirectX 10 being a Vista "exclusive", DirectX 11 will be released as an update for all Windows Vista users!

As of this time, no date was announced for the release of either DirectX 11 or Windows 7.

My Vista computer can barely handle DX10 features at a decent framerate. With this coming...

            Here's a fairly decent one - http://www.extremetech.com/article2/...2329314,00.asp

Also, the issue with DirectX 10 isn't the fact that it runs slower simply because it's DX10, it typically runs slower because developers have all of this extra overhead to work with. DX10 streamlines a lot of the processes found in DX9, and it's because of this that developers feel the need to add in more eye candy than is necessary. This translates into them abusing that overhead and lowering the FPS more than if they had just left well enough alone.

All we need now is a card that can support it :/

One more reason not to update to Vista?

Depends. Microsoft wants to roll out more "regular" upgrades to Windows and shorten the life span of whatever OS is out currently. So by the time Win7 is released, the next Windows will already be right around the corner if they stick anywhere close to their schedule.

So you'll always keep "waiting" for the next thing if you go in with that mindset. Vista is incredible and so far with Win7 I haven't seen anything in it yet that justifies upgrading to it when it's released.

After struggling with vista for a year on my laptop im dumping it and going back to XP( i run a few apps that just do not work on vista and its not worth dual booting). Hopefully Windows 7 will be better.
