Call of Duty: World at War - Death Cards

The guys over at Team Xbox have posted up a new article recently talking about the death cards featured in Call of Duty: World at War. Take a look:

Playing through the single player campaign I had discovered a couple of the death cards peppered about the levels, thinking they were just some collectible. It wasn’t until we actually played some co-operative play that I realized what they were for. One of the Treyarch guys said: “so I’m going to turn on death cards for this one.” And I’m all, “turn on?” And then he’s all, “yeah, they activate specific cheats in the game.” Then I was like, “sweet.”

There are thirteen death cards in all, and the cheats they unlock can only be activated in co-operative mode. This makes a lot of sense because their effects range from making the game barely playable, to laughably weird to too awesome to be true. The cards are found throughout the single player, every time you find a fresh soldier’s grave marked by a rifle stuck in the ground and a helmet on top. These death cards are based in reality – soldiers have been leaving them on battlefields for some time now, mostly to indicate which specific battalion or platoon had been through an area. Just like Martin Sheen says in Apocalypse Now, a death card “lets Charlie know who did this.”

G4TV had them. The vampire death card sounds fun. You keep losing health and have to knife people to keep yourself alive.

I thought you just had to kill other players with any weapon to keep yourself alive.

I have collected all the death cards in World at War but I am not sure how to activate them. Can anyone help?

You can only enable them if you're the host of a coop session. While in the lobby, go to Game Setup > Game Mode Settings > Enable Death Cards > Select which ones you want. Doesn't work in Nazi Zombies.

You can only enable them if you're the host of a coop session. While in the lobby, go to Game Setup > Game Mode Settings > Enable Death Cards > Select which ones you want. Doesn't work in Nazi Zombies.

i have the same deal and i tried that but its not there.

Those are the correct steps listed above, so if you don't see it, you've done something wrong.

- you have to have collected the death cards yourself in singleplayer or other co-op games
- you have to be the host of a co-op match to choose them
- you have to enable them in the Game Mode Settings before you can see the individual ones to use

EDIT: I just saw your other thread. The steps listed above are for PC (this is mostly a PC users' forum), so there is a chance that it could be different for the 360, or that you need to be on Xbox Live (maybe it does not work on split-screen without XBL).

Maybe someone here who also has a 360 can try it and comment.

If you find/unlock a card, you go to co-op and i believe its in the barracks and its usable from there in a co op game.

I have found all 13 cards and completed all missions. How do i activate the cards? i start a coop campaign with my son and can't find how to activate the cards. Can they be used from a single xbox 360 or can they only be use through system link or xbox live? any help is greatly appreciated
