Left 4 Dead Early Access Demo Released!

While the Xbox 360 owners have been enjoying the Left 4 Dead demo for roughly five hours now, PC owners are now able to dive into the early demo.

Featured in the demo are the first two parts to the No Mercy scenario. Those over at Left 4 Dead 411 have found some interesting goodies in the pre-load files. There are overhead maps of the areas, and two videos. One is the background that plays at the main screen while the other is the video that plays at the end asking that you purchase the full game!

The demo does introduce the new Matchmaking system for Valve's online games. Left 4 Dead is the only title that features the system, and there is a lot of idle speculation going on from the community about its use. "Will we have access to the server we rent for the game" is the biggest concern right now. A wait and see strategy is the best bet right now.

Let's not forget that Steam Cloud is also being rolled out with this release. The first version of the system will save your game configurations.

I'm a bit concerned about how my comp can handle the game, if my trusty comp can play it on medium i'm gonna buy it immediately.

The early access demo for the Xbox 360 would be for those that pre-ordered from the store. I heard that GameStop was emailing pre-order people their keys beginning last night.

It's different for everyone,nothing is ever int eh same place.

Public demo is released on November 11.


Steam Cloud is basically a system that will automatically save your config files to a master server. This way, if you ever have to reinstall Steam or play on another computer, you can retrieve your config files and everything will be as you want it.

In the future it will also allow for the storage and retrieval of your save game files.

ahh that's very cool, yeah i kinda get sick of backing up my cstrike folder and my tf folder when re-installing windows for a fresh install.

i still have to to keep my screen shots and my 2 skins i have for the ak and deagle but at least i dont have to bother re-mapping my key's :)
