    GameDaily: Hands-On With CoD:WW Multiplayer

GameDaily has put up an article describing their experience they had with Call of Duty: World at War's multiplayer. Some of the game action that the writer is describing, we have been lucky enough to see in some of the recent videos and trailers.

Now, a couple of his comments about the game make me wonder how 'experienced' he is with the CoD series, so he may have slipped here, maybe not, but this part about the airstrike being for one team at a three kill streak, and the 'temporary map view of the enemy's locations' being for the other team at a three kill streak, is different than what most have expected for kill streaks, if true. For CoD4, your options for perks, weapons, and kill streaks were the same for both sides. Maybe we can get an answer from Treyarch about this.
In competitive multiplayer, we played several matches in a beautiful Shanghai-like city, draped with beautiful tapestries, cobblestone structures and plenty of lethal opposition. We shot our fair share of enemy soldiers and dogs while also using our knives for up-close executions. If you successfully kill three enemies without dying, you receive a perk. This could be a lethal air strike or a temporary map that shows you enemy locations, depending on which side you're playing. The air strike is outstanding, letting you pummel unsuspecting team members from the heavens. (The camera replay is particularly sick, as you can track a bomb until it lands on your skull.)

What's cool about World At War is how the graphics and audio keep up with every step of the action. Even when the screen floods with enemies, there's no lack of detail. We didn't experience one single disconnection, glitches or lag. Soldiers constantly bark orders, weapons go off dramatically and the attention to detail is extraordinary. One striking moment came in a night time Capture the Flag village stage. After taking out several soldiers, we had to stop for a second and admire a nearby stream, with water shimmering in the moonlight.

Hmmm, that is strange. I would think that would throw the balance way off. I dont use UAV much in CoD4 anyway or the people using silencers/UAV jammer makes it unreliable.

If it is always the same team with the air strikes, I can see heavy team stacking.

I think the writer just made a mistake...I'd say it's very likely that the UAV/Airstrike/Dogs system will work the same as in COD4, with set limits that are the same for each team. This fellow probably didn't quite know what was going on at the time. If it's different, this is the first I've heard of it.

Guess we'll all see for ourselves soon enough when the demo/beta comes out.

Just finished watching all 4 deathmatch vids from the IGN thread...in all of them, the order was the same: 3 kills = recon plane, 5 = arty, 7 = dogs...and this was shown for different factions (Russian and US, I believe). So unless it's different for the Axis forces vs Allies, I'd say that the author of the article just made a bit of a mistake.

I agree. The big deal about CoD4 and 5 is balance. Doing that would really throw all that out the window.
