No More Typewriters for Resident Evil 5

Resident Evil 5 will dump the series' long standing save system in which typewriters and ink ribbons were used. EGM editor-in-chief, James Mielke, stopped by the Capcom offices during his recent trip to Japan to get the scoop on this.
The Milkman recently visited the Capcom offices overseas where he had a chance to chat with RE5 producer Jun Takeuchi, who had more than few interesting things to say about the latest in the popular zombie-slaying series. One particularly interesting note: The typewriter save system from previous games is completely gone in Resident Evil 5. "Actually, I really like typewriters; they're really typical of the Resident Evil series," Takeuchi explains. "But this time, the save system will be a combination of checkpoints and chapters."

Later in a one-on-one interview, Takeuchi goes on to explain five of his favorite things about the Resident Evil series, the possibility of Chris Redfield and Leon Kennedy showing up in the same game, and the idea of making another EGM April Fools joke -- Akuma in Resident Evil -- a reality. "That's a pretty good idea," he says. "Maybe we can make something out of that."

The November issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly will have a full cover story on Resident Evil 5 for you to sink your teeth into.
