Xbox Live and the "My Xbox" portion of the dashboard will be unavailable starting September 29 at 12:01 AM PDT. The servers will be down for roughly 24 hours for routine server maintenance and to prepare for the upcoming Fall Dashboard update.
This isn't the update, it's merely being done to prepare for the update. If you have some single player games you've been meaning to play, perhaps the 29th would be a good day to fire them up.
