Would it not be more constructive just to make Mods ranked? Don't have to worry about easy points or anything, stat padding happens either way. I don't see why people even care about ranks anymore to be honest, all that matters is what you can bring to the table during real gameplay. Then again, for every person that just wants to play for fun, there are 5 others who need their fictitious achievements.

About time we got an update, but I'd definitely prefer them to release a quality patch rather than rush it.

I wouldn't get my hopes up for this patch either. I hope they fix the things we all wish for, but chances are it will not happen. But you never know, they might be able to save bf2 with this patch.

The only patch I ever liked was 1.03, everything after that just seemed to make things worst.

I probably dont play this game enough to know why a patch is so needed but it is nice to see them working on this game still.
As long as theres a sizable community I will always come back to this game. gotta love them noobs who run in circles or down an alley trying to reload cos they spent a whole mag shooting at every building on the map instead of me. I always feel sorry for them cos we have all been there at some point. cracks me up this game.

lol, just saw this post again and reading through it I thought about 1.03 again not releasing I had already posted that. Would be nice if we could think of this patch maybe updating the game a bit into say Battlefield 2.5. In a lot of ways this game has been left in the dust. Doesn't mean I don't have this game installed, but generally speaking when ever I play it I quickly release why I don't anymore.

I'm really hoping there will be a patch soon, and it's not some ploy to draw out more potiental buyers and returning gamers for the game.

That stat was pulled at 11am on a Thursday (non peak hours for North America). If there are still THAT many people playing it, I doubt that the game is 'dead'. It's too bad half that many people don't play BF1942 still or else I'd likely play that.

I also think that the 1.50 patch will likely inject some new life to the game, especially if they plan on bundling the patch with 'new' maps that will hopefully add some variety/longevity to the patch itself.

I really don't think that EA want's BF games to have a long life, that's bad for business, brother! lol

They aren't patching BF2 to bring us more content, but because the stats system has been completely compromised and is hacked bimonthly now.

Bring us Battlefield 3 without stats -- or with stats which really don't matter much like CoD4 -- and there will be a lot less incentive to cheat.
