Duke Nukem Movie in the Works

The producer behind the Max Payne movie adaptation, Scott Faye, is ready to take on another 3D Realms' property, Duke Nukem. Faye is working closely with Scott Miller of 3D Realms on the initial stages of this movie.

Faye said he’s still actively developing the story and he will not shop the film in Hollywood until all the people involved in the project feel solid about where we are creatively.

“More than ever before, I feel that the feature adaptation of Duke Nukem’ will come to together nicely,” said Faye, who runs Depth Entertainment.

Faye has a production arrangement with Miller’s Radar Group, which will be part of every aspect of the Duke Nukem’ process, according to Faye.

“We're expanding Duke's ‘storyverse’ in a very significant major way without abandoning or negating any element that's being used to introduce Duke to the next gen platforms,” added Faye.
Faye also states that he'd "rather not make the movie than make a poor adaptation."

As the Duke Nukem movie is in the earliest stages of planning, there are no other details known yet. This also means nobody knows if the movie will be released before or after the release of Duke Nukem Forever, or if the releases of both will be synchronized.

Thats a movie that, if not done correctly, can be the biggest flop in game movie history.

Good luck and hope it comes out faster than Duke Nukem Forever.

I don't know why everyone just wants to realize a game as a movie. :shakehead:

Some can be pretty good Kradath, i.e. Bioshock, and MGS. I am waiting to see how Max Payne will turn out.

Games are easy (sort of) to make into a movie. They already have characters people can relate to. They already have a story line and sometimes a plot . Bad guys and termoil and inner struggle and all that jazz.

That and there are just no more new ideas in Hollywood.

The question is if we need movies based on games. Making a movie out of a game takes it's sense in being the protagonist. It's like with movies based on books which kill the fantasy of the reader. That's why I always say interpretation rather than film adaption.

This is not against movies, I loved the Lord of the Rings trilogy, nevertheless it is just an interpretation of how the story in the book could look like.

Easy way for movie studios to make money. Most of the movies are terrible story-wise, but as long as the budget isn't too high, they can still make a profit even if it isn't great, and that's all that matters in the film industry.

Well, that's what a free market is about, making money with low costs. Sadly sometimes the do it too extreme.

Bruce is not tall or buff enough. I suppose he could pull it off.
