The latest BlizzCast (Blizzard Podcast) mentions how the content production for Diablo III is in full swing. The game's lead designer, Jay Wilson, had a lot of positive things to talk about.
The inventory system will get an overhaul to better accommodate a user's ever expanding collection of loot. Necromancer fans shouldn't worry too much about their beloved class. Wilson says that he may pop up in an expansion, but nothing is finalized yet.
Finally, for everyone crying about the "colorful" art direction should understand that what was shown was really early dungeon areas as seen in Act 1 of the game. As the game progresses gamers will see that the designers are pushing hard "to make sure that the tone of the game is right, that it's dark, that it's foreboding."
The game will tell the tale of the coming apocalypse and that "in act two and act three, and act four... people are probably going to see some environments that feel, tone-wise, a lot more, menacing than what we've shown so far."

"A lot of the team is really production focused now and we're generating content for the most part; a lot of the tech and underlying engine is really solid," Wilson said.
While the art team had moved on to building the game's second act, he revealed that "most of the design team is still on Act 1 because we're refining and improving the quests and flow, and some of the big game systems that we haven't really announced yet."
He goes on to mention how there will be an increased emphasis on the trading system in the game, and will place a larger emphasis on the importance of Gold. While the art team had moved on to building the game's second act, he revealed that "most of the design team is still on Act 1 because we're refining and improving the quests and flow, and some of the big game systems that we haven't really announced yet."
