Rumor Smash: Sorry PS3 Fans, No Left 4 Dead for You

Just the other day we posted about how there was a chance that Left 4 Dead would appear on the PlayStation 3. I regret to inform you that this is not the case after all.

Here's what Valve's Doug Lombardi had to say after I requested a confirmation on that rumor.

There’s no PS3 version of L4D currently in production.

Short, sweet, and to the point. You can still expect a Xbox 360 and PC version of Left 4 Dead to be released this November.

There’s no PS3 version of L4D currently in production.

Note that he said currently, my guess would be that EA will take on the PS3 production sometime in the future as they did the same with The Orange Box.

Well... the PS3 version of the Orange Box actually started before the OB was released. They were developed roughly side by side, with just a few months difference. To start development on a PS3 version now would mean it'd be a good half of a year, if not longer, before PS3 owners ever saw a release.

I can't say I know a single person who owns a PS3.
