Shacknews has gotten their hands on some hi-res shots of a hot new shooter that will be coming out next year. The screenshots are of Aliens: Colonial Marines and they are extremely impressive.
Originally, Colonial Marines was the name of a game slated to be released on the PlayStation 2. The original game was more of a typical FPS that included a story line taking place between the second and third films. The game was canceled, without reason, and never saw its release in the Fall of 2001.
Since then, Sega picked up the rights to the Alien franchise from 20th Century Fox and have partnered up with Gearbox Software to bring you the game you see today. Aliens: Colonial Marines is now billed as a tactical shooter that has you taking command of a four man squad. It is slated for a 2009 release on the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 platforms.
