EA Takeover Spurn Cost $5.3million In Legal Fees

According to the financial reports of this year's second quarter, Take-Two, the mommies and daddies behind Rockstar Games spent $5.3 million on legal fees to stop Electronic Arts from getting their hands on their titles.
The company should be able to compensate for their losses however, as in they've pulled in $92.8 million since GTA IV was released.

Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto IV has sold 8.5 million units to date, with 11 million shipped to retailers. The game managed to move 6 million units in its first week, amounting to some $500 million in revenue.
It's amazing the lengths companies will go to, to stop being capitalised by Electronic Arts.

98 million? That doesn't seem very much. I thought it should be atleast in the 150's +

Just as long as EA can't get their hands on the best video game publisher in the world I am ok with it. I believe they should concentrate on themselves and improving the quality of games they release instead of trying to buy others.

Their sports games are lacking in quality from what they used to be, their FPS games are not very quality at times, the advertising and marketing is superb but their product quality has decreased over the years. They have the cash and manpower to increase the quality so that should be their goal. The higher quality of the games produced the more copies they will sell.

GTAIV and its previous line of games where extremly high quality so when GTAIV was released we all knew it was going to be a collectors item or a must have without second thoughts or doubts a preview or a review .

All EA would have to do is buy a majority share and then their word goes.

Hence all the monies was to stop EA from doing that, legally.

I don't care for GTA, but I really just want EA to burn in hell.

EA has some good games, but they seem to be so into buying up others instead of improving on what they currently have and strengthening it from within. It's good to have competition as it keeps everyone from getting lazy with their coding and overall quality of their final product. If one publisher puts out a sub par game there is another to deliver what the customer was expecting and more from the other publisher. So if a publisher does get lazy they will suffer from low sells and bad word of mouth, while the other publisher that put the time into make sure development of their upcoming title was up to par, close to as bug free as possible, and ran smooth with little to no problems.
