Why wouldn't you just post the FTP links at the same time?

I'm afraid the reason is that we're non-profit: we cannot afford to run an FTP server which can serve 1 terabyte or more a day (at a nominal US$1/GB, that's over US$1000 per day).

The commercial game download services are an option but a) they don't use FTP, and b) they make it exceptionally inconvenient to upload large files to them.

Tis abit of a silly comment since you can get a virus from practically anyway...also, you can get a virus from not actually downloading anything at all, so if your not protected, ie anti virus, firewall etc etc your more than likely already infected.

No one asked the FH2 team to get their own FTP server, just to put it out to sites that can offer it via FTP, or to trusted sites like File Planet and File Front.

I use Windows firewall and have no antivirus program installed. Every couple of months, I install MacAfee and run a scan, then uninstall it and I have never had a virus. I run Counterspy to check for spyware/malware a few times a week and never have anything more than everyday tracking cookies. Stay away from file sharing, porn, warez, viewing attatchments forwarded to your email (even if you know the person forwarding it), stick with trusted web sites and you'll be ok.
