I'll be interested in what they can offer, I just hope they don't put too much effort into it, and rather, apply more development power on the games that matter, those which gamers will be paying for.

BF3 looks increasingly promising, I just hope they give us a little more than gun models, 3d objects and limited online play (i.e. less than 64player support). I like the ideas that they had for BF2 and BF2142, but half the stuff I wanted was never released (i.e. destructible environments, very realistic looking explosions, PROPER game balance).

I don't agree with all the fools already trashing the game: get over yourselves. What have you got to lose from a free game? Again, the only concern is the effort put into the games you ARE waiting for.

    PEACE
(not that it matters, but I just noticed this was my 1000th post, lol)...I never thought I'd of gotten up to that amount!

I think not and i sure hope not!! EA/DICE always said that they will approve of the mod only if the devs would not chrage people for the mod.

I've been thinking about this but cant quite put a figure on what you'd pay for a cojones upgrade, would it more or less than a Mohawk and with such an upgrade would the hit box reflect the charactors new shape?
Also will we get cartoon girly charactors to customise, i think they could be a good money spinner and if people cant afford to buy them any clothes it would at least make the game quite fun to watch.

Free What a joke! the d/load will be free, but it will end up like the WoW game. You have to pay for monthly stats. This DOES NOT make me feel any better towards EA.

Thats just your prediction, how can you be sure that that will happen?!

Lets stop speculating. If and when a catch to the game is announced that means we have to pay as we go, then we can moan at EA.

Well if this game doesn't become too much of a you have to pay for this and that, I believe it may do very well. Just keep things like weapons and upgrades free along with playtime, etc. and it should do well with the players.

Also make it rated MA, so you can go all out on what you can do, or if you make it rated Teen, make sure there are certain things disabled that modders can enable very easily like breakable limbs, blood, etc.

Also for the graphics if you can make these cartoon characters very detailed as in their clothing, and close up views that would be great. One thing I have noticed over the trend from Battlefield 1942 is the decline in features, weapons and vehicles. Might be a good idea to load the game up again, include underground passageways, trenches, submarines, etc... A Time of Day system would be nice like in Crysis. So if someone is running a 24/7 server they can play and the time of day will change while they play, changing the way people can act on the battlefield.

Since there will be ads in the game give the clan and provider the ability to select some of their own custom ads they would like to be shown on their servers. So if the clan or community that is running the server will get the regular ads from EA but also be able to add their own ads for special events they may be having making sure all ads are on billboards and not popup ads while your playing in the middle of the game.

This game is probally made to tide us over till the release of BF3 and to test the market for IGA and if it works out we mite see alot more games like this for free from EA so this is a good thing. I just hope it is good.

About DICE/EA ruining the Battlefield trademark...

No they are not. They're just trying out different things and I guess EA wants to see if DICE is capable of doing different things. Every battlefield game doesn't have to be the same stuff but in a different timespan.

About the game being cartoonish with TF2 graphics...

All we have seen from BF:H so far is a soldier on a magazine cover. We don't even know if that is what the game will look like. Take it easy and wait for more videos/screenshots.

So people, stop bitching about stuff we don't even know about yet.

Thats exactly the point, you show a strong dislike towards people who complain about the product early on, disregarding completely the reasons why people have formed their opinion. Its not something that comes out of thin air, its not because were grim 24/7 and havent had a smile in a year.

Your unfortunate spending on shoddy products does not pertain to what this is about, either.
My spending on shoddy products is a result of clever marketing, where a well established brandname is being used to sell crap which has little to nothing to do with the origins or basics of said brand name.

And you're damn straight they get paid. It's pretty hard for a company to "sell out for profit" when it has always been it's sole purpose to make a profit. It's not about just making enough money to get by, it's about milking it. Don't start on some noble ideal you seem to have about game development. It's a hard job, and daddy wants to the see the big bucks.
Thats all fine and dandy if youre illiterate, because the whole intro post was about "us", the "community". Its as if the new BF game is for us, as a token of their appreciation, it was even flavoured with the most ridiculous lines, claiming that they will accept communities feedback and suggestions to make a better game for "us", whereas in practice, they have completely failed in doing so. Not only have they neglected the game as soon as it becomes a sinking ship that doesnt bring in any cash, their idea of accepting our suggestions has had disastrous results for BF2 for example.

And I dont see game development as a noble cause to satisfy fans. As a matter of fact, if you actually read my post, you would have understood it. My problem with game developers in this current case, is that they are giving themselves too much credit.

I also wouldn't dare call this flaming and belly aching proper "feedback", even though it does give a pretty good picture of discontent.
Sorry, feedback is feedback. Youll see that negative feedback goes far more into detail, than positive ever does. Why do you think the whole "learning from mistakes" doesnt have "success" instead of "mistakes" in it.

Besides, they said it themselves. Battlefield Heroes is trying to grasp at the ever growing casual market.
Noone even knows what the "ever growing casual market" even is. Around me, theres no such thing. Theres either a champ who plays a game of FIFA every 2 months, or a guy who plays an hour or two daily. "Casual gamer" per se plays consoles, and hates FPS online MP titles. Casual gamer plays for fun, and not for competition, and however you want to call the new game, its a PvP MP online competitive game.

Most people on this forums are part of a more hardcore vocal community.
I like the term "vocal minority" better. Theres nothing "hardcore" about visiting forums.

is a stark contrast. You're really a perfect example of who they are not catering this for; a senior member of this forum alone, active, with a post total of 5,274, 11.19 average post per day.
Amusing, because "senior members" like me have posted some of the best suggestions to improve the game (the game, not our game), while providing a way to do so with minimum effort and maximum result. And if you actually dwelve deeper into the subject, take BF2 patching history for example, its the people who have LOW post counts, post a few posts and move on, have grammar of a LOLcat and intellect of an insect, and its their wishes that are accepted and implemented. This has lead a game from a playable state in 2005, into a severely overhauled, imbalanced and abandoned piece of software today.

As for my post count. Dont tell me, that just because you have 2 posts here, makes you a complete opposite to me. Post count is meaningless, its the person that counts. You are leaving an impression as if a forum senior member has lost all credibility and does not have valid opinions suggestions. Theres no bias.

                                This + BF3 = Awesome!

                                This - BF3 = T3h SuX.

TF2 is fun and all, but I want a full scale game (and I am willing to pay 50$ for it)
