Odd, had to be a problem on your Interwebs as stated earlier. Seeders was constantly in the hundreds for me.

For those having connection problems. Just change the port and open it in your router.

Agree 100%. Unfortunately most people with router problems blame torrents in general, not their own router.

And, sorry, but as files get larger, bit torrent seems more likely to be the way forward
Again I agree 100%. A few people have problems with them but in my experience they have been extremely efficient.

I think he means as files ARE getting larger (which they most certainly are), torrents are seeming more and more efficient. I'm just not sure why it dosn't work well for certain people.

I really don't think its over the top at all. Its a great Idea actually, think of it this way. They did have spotters back in WW2, But they really didn't pop up on the map.{I get where you are coming from there} But they had coordinates though and Radio's. Like "Watch out you have tanks/infantry coming from the east *Coordinates blah, blah, blah.*." somthing like that. You can't really do that in BF2. The Engine isn't like that, so it would just be more work for the FH2 staff. So they did the next best thing changed it into a UAV.

Just think of it as a easy way of spotting instead of you having to spot a tank or infantry every time it disapears on the map. Also, think of it as the Pilot and the Co-pilot updating the team every 5 seconds over the radio...lol. Closest thing to realism with BF2 engine you can get, I say.

Besides, do you really want people in the reconasence aircraft spamming the chat every five seconds with "Enemy Infantry!" and "Enemy Tank Spotted!"...I don't...lol

Can't wait! tomorrow we get to try this bad boy out.

I agree with darkness... it's the closest they can get without the annoying spotting of infantry every second. Sure, you can be on teamspeak, but the whole team can't participate in that.

I'm afraid there isn't a better option. We've pushed 7,500GB in about 3 days which is equivalent to two saturated OC-3s during that period.

Last time I checked, an OC-3 was about US$100k for equipment and setup and US$40k a year rental. The dollar is weak, but not that weak

Next time you release, contact the guys at WolfServers.com. They're always willing to put up mirrors. They did three US FTP mirrors for USI .15.

I was using bitorrent and getting this

I decided to try uTorrent, and started getting it at this rate.

So if you're having problems, its at your end. As i obviously had the first program improperly config'ed. And fortunately installing uTorrent fixed it for me.

no not exactly true...could have had alot more seeders jump on or someone like myself start seeding at over 1meg/sec like I did today while at work right when you switched programs.....ya just never really know for sure.

Can't wait to get in the game, thanks FH2 devs :)
Torrent is speedy for me, well done. I wish you every success with the mod.

Whiners....get a life, sheesh. When you start paying the dev team, you can start complaining.

(Ps. I also recommend utorrent for the best speeds.)

It depends on how you configure the client. Look at RBS's first screenshot and you see his client made 45 connections/torrent. Not sure if that is a setting in that particular client or it just isn't aggressive enough.
In the second screenshot he is connected to 170 seeders and 46 leachers. That's one difference right there.

Also, some guy earlier mentioned that he limited his upload to 1 kb/s because he did not want his transfer speed to suffer. The bit torrent protocol gives higher priority to peers that upload faster. So if you limit your upload to ridiculous low speeds, your download will suffer as well if there is not enough upload bandwidth to go around.

However, one should cap his upload to something like 75-80% of his max upload speed when downloading. Just downloading (with no explicit upload) consumes some upload bandwidth (for acknowledgment messages). If you saturate your upload bandwidth the ACK messages get delayed and the download speed suffers.

Yeah, that's just too much work. There are plenty of places out there, in particular game server companies, that would be willing to set up FTP mirrors for a mod like FH2, so there's no reason for Torrents to be the main way to distribute the files. That's just one more hurdle for people to overcome. To some people, torrents might be a way of life, but for a lot of people, it's probably too complicated and being able to just click on a link without installing additional software is easier and gets their mod distributed faster.

I personally don't like the idea of sending files from my computer to other people and getting files from other people that I don't know. By avoiding situations like this, I've kept my computer virus and malware free for years now.
