But let me ask this... I've installed a WHOLE NEW OS... put the game directory back on the server which is now Win2003 Sp2 Server and I STILL GET THAT DAMN DirectX encountered a Unrecoverable Error!!!! DX is fully updated and this is a FRESH install of the damn system. Someone has to have a suggestion or a solution...Comment

I ran the 1.2 update "setup" and it didn't change the version still at 1.1 - there is an Auto Update button - I hit it and it & say yes & it takes you to here: http://www.infinityward.com/modernwarfare/patch/ with no way to download anything???

I DL the 1.2 patch but my version says 1.1.3 something something, So its still at 1.1 I just ran the patch and did it on its own it an exe it should know where to go, right
. Did I have to put the patch in spec folder?
.
The version that I have since I updated to 1.2 says. At the bottom of the screen says 1.1.13620. I don't think that's 1.2.Comment

Look again carefully...are you sure it's not 1.2.13620?Originally posted by GunnyThe version that I have since I updated to 1.2 says. At the bottom of the screen says 1.1.13620. I don't think that's 1.2.
If not, might want to try again from the official IW download site: http://www.infinityward.com/modernwa...PatchSetup.exeComment

1) try to download the patch again from the official link I posted above
2) be sure when you run the install that it's pointing to the C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare folder, or if you have done a custom install path, that it's pointing to that.Comment

No It says 1.1.13620 and when I try to use the link that you gave it tells me that I have 1.2, what do I have to do now to fixs this?
Thanks WhiskeyComment

A couple other people have posted about this on the IW.com forums. Some server admins got together and created another installer.
Try this one and see if it works: http://www.10-78.com/Upload/COD4%201.2%20Patch.exeComment

Maybe there's a hardware problem with the server? What did IW tech support say when you contacted them? But let me ask this...
