People lose interest on the final product. Too much hype builds and leads to unreasonably high expectations....expectations that can't be met because modding is an evolutionary process. You mod, you test internally...and then you release. You get feedback...you tweak and build your mod further. It's not a process that has an end until the devs give up and move on. Too many people are unforgiving these days when it comes to mods and it's based on two things...long development times and "hype" generating updates. The one BF2 mod that defied this was PR. They started out small....and built an empire. They may not have realized it or maybe they did...but they basically followed the Desert Combat model for development and release scheduling. DC started out very small and it grew to be the single most successful mod in the BF franchise because they released a new version almost every 45 days. PR was small...used to be called minimod lol....now it's what...1.8GB's? PR's success wasn't an accident imo. Other mods haven't followed the DC model and have suffered for it. One mod that sits in between is POE2. They definitely have their stuff together but bad timing hurt them more than a release schedule and that was a BF2 patch that coincided with a release.

People that lose interest based on lack of updates are fair weather fans to begin with. The pitbull/hardcore fans keep themselves updated. TotalBF2 isn't the only venue for information. In fact, TotalBF2 rarely breaks an "update"...they simply cull the info from the developers site.

As for what I develop? LMAO!

    Let's see....where do I begin?

I created the movie Hostile Acts....then I moved into freelance map work for leagues. I created custom maps for CAL and TWL which are still being played today. I was honored to have one of my maps become a CAL championship map. I created multiple maps for multiple mods. I created a map pack for POE2 which also was picked up by CAL for competition. I also have created pub maps for BF2....one was picked up by the EOD mod for their use. Recently I released two new vanilla conversions for BF2....I remade Karkand into a Chinese map and co-produced the conversion of Mashtuur City into a Chinese based map. these were also picked up by CAL and TotalBF2's Total Gaming League. Yesterday I released the first of two maps for Desert Conflict which consequently was picked up by a single player mod team from the awesome folks over at the BFSP site. So for those of you paying attention....single player is coming to DCON.(and from what I'm being told...the SP experience in DCON captures the spirit of DC like no other)

Currently, while I type, I'm working on a trench warfare map for POE2 and just announced another new map for them this afternoon. Out of respect for the FH guys, I'm not going to spam up this thread with a bunch of screenies or videos of my work. Here is just one small pic from the trench warfare map I'm making for POE2.

I haven't complained about the mod in general, your putting words in my mouth. Only thing I've voiced against was something some here don't want to discuss and thats timing.

Also lets not get into a pissing match about disrespect...you have to earn the right to call me disrespectful and few have done so under false facts... so get yours straight!

After the release when clans have had a fair amount of playtime, perhaps a TGL staff member would create an interest poll in the forums with a team roster sign up form.
....say hi to Audie for us (Team Dissidents).

If you do happen to "lobby"...my suggestion, propose a limited tournament. We can't sustain a ladder or a league as the numbers just aren't there but imo a tournament would work well. allow clans to marry up to encourage max participation. Maybe 20v20 on a double elimination bracket????

FYI, I've already planted the bug in Jamison's ear.

Yes |D|-Jaws, but you forget that PR is a realistic modern warfare mod for a modern warfare game:

They can use all the models, all the vehicles, all the statics, all the soldier models, all the sounds, all-the-everything

And we?...yeah, right...some vegetables and rocks, they are lovely

So yeah, PR can (and they did) release very fast and build with frequent updates the awesome mod it is now (no minimod animore), the first release was mainly coding work to adapt the original game to the PR realistic aproach, later they were adding patiently all the custom artistic assets they have now.

Well, we have not that option, we must make all the coding part + all the stuff, no way around, and that means time, a hell of time. The Age of mods done in a weekend with Notepad are gone years ago. And this constant discussion about schedules and rushing of releases just annoys the moders and it's a waste of worthy moding time...you see?, I have lost minutes writing this basic fact of moding for n time.

About our updates polithic: our fans community loves the regular updates, if we don't post one each week they revolt, cry, pee their pants, threaten us, ask if the mod is dead with trembling voices. Now, you maybe noticed, we are releasing updates each 2, 3 or even 4 weeks...well, I am moderator in our public forum and we sweat to control the riots, and is with manu military, all day with the cat o'nine tails in my hands.

So that's it, wait patiently because we are dieing even more than you to release this damn baby and play with all of you.

Looking fantastic and awesome at the same time and as per usual.

Dont worry about sooks and girly men wanting you to release the game before you are ready to release it.

Get it done and get it right imo and if it takes more time than so be it, it doesnt worry me, ill still be here ready to play it.:salute:

Some people here and over at planetbattlefield are truly pathetic.:shakehead:

I agree with the building up hype point. I think thats one of the things thats killed a lot of these mods. People are let down for some reason after a couple weeks because it was so hyped up. Forgotten Hope really is on a whole other level though. The quality alone is enough to keep people interested.

you have to remember, like lobo said, they have had to create everything from scratch, EVERYTHING! most mods that are released can use allot of the current maps or models in bf2 so theres a much grander scale of model and static development in the fh2 mod not to mention the maps witch by the looks are going to be some of the nicest looking maps to ever grace the bf2 engine.

people should not think of FH2 as a mod, its much more. its going to be an entirely new game simply using the bf2 engine and best of it all it will cost nothing. its a full conversion mod on a scale the bf2 engine has yet to see and i promise, there will be no shortage of players.

Someone asked about FH2 performance, it runs better then vanilla BF2 does for me. I test FH2 on medium-high 1280x1024, 50+ FPS on the most demanding map.
