Re: Forgotten Hope 2 Mod Update
People lose interest on the final product. Too much hype builds and leads to unreasonably high expectations....expectations that can't be met because modding is an evolutionary process. You mod, you test internally...and then you release. You get feedback...you tweak and build your mod further. It's not a process that has an end until the devs give up and move on. Too many people are unforgiving these days when it comes to mods and it's based on two things...long development times and "hype" generating updates. The one BF2 mod that defied this was PR. They started out small....and built an empire. They may not have realized it or maybe they did...but they basically followed the Desert Combat model for development and release scheduling. DC started out very small and it grew to be the single most successful mod in the BF franchise because they released a new version almost every 45 days. PR was small...used to be called minimod lol....now it's what...1.8GB's? PR's success wasn't an accident imo. Other mods haven't followed the DC model and have suffered for it. One mod that sits in between is POE2. They definitely have their stuff together but bad timing hurt them more than a release schedule and that was a BF2 patch that coincided with a release.
People that lose interest based on lack of updates are fair weather fans to begin with. The pitbull/hardcore fans keep themselves updated. TotalBF2 isn't the only venue for information. In fact, TotalBF2 rarely breaks an "update"...they simply cull the info from the developers site.
As for what I develop? LMAO!
Let's see....where do I begin?
I created the movie Hostile Acts....then I moved into freelance map work for leagues. I created custom maps for CAL and TWL which are still being played today. I was honored to have one of my maps become a CAL championship map. I created multiple maps for multiple mods. I created a map pack for POE2 which also was picked up by CAL for competition. I also have created pub maps for BF2....one was picked up by the EOD mod for their use. Recently I released two new vanilla conversions for BF2....I remade Karkand into a Chinese map and co-produced the conversion of Mashtuur City into a Chinese based map. these were also picked up by CAL and TotalBF2's Total Gaming League. Yesterday I released the first of two maps for Desert Conflict which consequently was picked up by a single player mod team from the awesome folks over at the BFSP site. So for those of you paying attention....single player is coming to DCON.
(and from what I'm being told...the SP experience in DCON captures the spirit of DC like no other)
Currently, while I type, I'm working on a trench warfare map for POE2 and just announced another new map for them this afternoon. Out of respect for the FH guys, I'm not going to spam up this thread with a bunch of screenies or videos of my work. Here is just one small pic from the trench warfare map I'm making for POE2.
