    Desert Conflict Mod Update

The guys over at the Desert Conflict mod have posted up a new update today to let us know they aren't dead. Here's what they had to say:
Not much of an update for all of you...but one nevertheless. RC4 is still being compiled and the crew is trying to get as much stuff stuck in there while the maps are being lightmapped. We've managed to get the arty huds working for vehicles.. So people will be able to call for artillery if they are sitting inside of vehicles. The team is trudging along double checking alot of things. We just got a new tweak file for the planes from BigBoom.. Seems to be promising, but we'll just have to see how the rest of the guys like it.

Now onto a more serious note of sorts. Since we've made our first release the teams general consensus is that we will be going back to our old style of leadership. We've gotten it this far and the team has been taken over once again by the Dept Heads and I will no longer be serving as the Lead persay. This has been a long time in comming and the team is more than capable of discharging the day to day business of the mod. My time is limited right now due to work and numerous other items like buying a new house and all the fun that comes with that, plus my side project has me busy as well. Read more...

Glad to hear a new release is still on its way. To learn more about DCon, click here.

Well it better be soon. They're losing more and more players the longer they wait to fix the graphic choppiness many people get on some maps.

From what I have been reading, this release looks like it will kick the crap out of thier first release. :)

The community sucks, not the mods. Go dcon, we are waiting..........
(dont take too much longer please)

agreed, the mod is on life support for the long wait of any change at all. I say release what you have now and patch again later if need be. The community is hanging by a thread but who's fault is that?

it's never that easy fellas.. Kiff has to make sure that the issues that we are trying to fix are fixed, then we have to make sure that the fixes didnt create another major issue that will generate the same sort of problems that you all experienced before.

Dcon has been damn stable for me so far, more stable than BF2.

Dont take this as me being gruff.. its not meant to read that way..

its this same type of thought process that you all had from the get go.. Its failed.. You wanted it released we released it.. Then you all had issues with things after it saying almost the same exact things before we released..

Its a vicious circle the community continues to follow.. The cycle has to be broken in some way.

                    LOL, what a D1ck weed.

The "Community" has a free game thanks to dcon and all the other mods. We are the lucky ones. I got an idea, lets play your kick *** mod......... Oh i forgot, your just like me, a simple spectator and end user, not a developer.

This community turned its back o0n many great things already. USI, OPK, POE2, EOD, etc. There are some fans for each, but few and far between. Come to think of it, what ever you do, dont join the black studios, it is a kiss of death so far.

Its the devs fault that we have free content, and its thier fault for not giving up on this crappy engine and support group, and for not telling 9 of 10 people on these forums not to blow there left nut on a daily basis.

but the players will return, it always happens when a mod releases a big update. look at usi, not one player right now but i bet you anything as soon as their new build comes out youll have 2,000 people playing it. you have to remember allot of bf2 players are bandwagon followers, if others are playing it they will too. this stats outage will only help gain more mod players, personally i could care less if they ever get fixed, id rather they didnt.

no, EA and DICE turned their backs on these mods and the community support they promised. if anyone remembers there was a spotlight popup window for opk and it quadrupled the player base in the first hour it showed up and we haven't seen one since. they would rather whore out some "new" 2 year old map and 2142 than support the mod community. mod players and mod developers for the battlefield series of games are a dying breed and ea is doing a great job of digging the graves while they pick the pockets of the corpses.

i dont blame the players as much as i blame EA for breaking countless promises to the mod developers, they make it almost impossible to put out good work and they all forget they started in mods too, most of them anyways.

                        Re: Desert Conflict Mod Update

I'll get the patch, i recently downloaded the mod, & like it in alot of ways , some ways i dont, maybe the patch will do the trick

would like to see more buggies

question, why is the choppers so hard to control? do u have setting just for the mod somewhere, i have my sensitivity set all the way down in my option controls, works great everwhere but this mod seems hard to fly.

                        audios:salute:
