Sheesh calm down there buddy..its only a frikken map. Players on bf2 are mostly just pissed due to the lack of support they expected from DICE after 1942/BFV.

As with most of the people here asking for the same thing..I agree that there is a need of attack choppers in this map. I don't know why people keep bring up "whoring" or whatever cause its DAMN WAR people!!! The map is large enough for them to be added while in turn adding a few more AA placements to counter them. The bomber will be another "mine mine mine" object without something else to use vs the tanks and such on a 64man server as with the size i'm not going to spend the time to run from one flag to the next all the time. God knows the community has already asked them to push up the distance for sprint or make it the same as it is for Infantry only" settings.

But give us some Attack choppers in this map or toss us a bone on another map that hasn't had 2 years worth of dust on it.

And this is why most gaming companies NEVER go to the community and try and explain in detail why something can't be fixed or will take a long time to be fixed.

They come out and explain in detail why a problem was very hard to fix and yet, you have the unmitigated GALL to ASSUME you know better than they do. That not only is your graphics ability better than all of their artists but that your knowledge of their code AND your programming ability is better than all of their programmers. BULL ****.

Probably the best perspective I have heard in a long time, well said.
Not sure how many times i've tried to explain how that updates, added content, programming etc... all come at a cost and once we are "treated' to a small update such as this, a good portion are very ungrateful... a BETA release for free, no subscribing or exclusivity, just download and give feedback (If you want) or just play and people are still up in arms. :laugh:

I think the bad taste in my mouth at least is because of what happened with BF1942. Dice patched relatively well, gave us new maps and even a new army to play with, a nice mod development toolkit, and they didn't try to squash the mods (Desert Combat even extended the lifespan of the game). With Battlefield Vietnam, they did the WW2 mod. And no, none of these maps had giant Intel billboards!

Then BF2 was released and fees for ranked servers meant that they would be rolling in cash for quite a few years. But support took a sharp dive. Dice constantly lied to the modding community, promising stuff that was never delivered. BF2 patches were shoddy - the first one even had to be completely recalled. I won't deny the fact that they did give us 2 free maps, but there are still extremely obvious bugs in BF2, such as the server info not showing on the login screen!

In BF2142, they found another way to make more money - in-game ads. And the modding community was almost completely crushed, with no BF2142 editor in sight.

They're making arseloads of money now, why aren't we getting any more free stuff? Maybe we don't deserve it, but I remember back when Dice used to be cool and friendly. I guess we were just spoiled by BF1942.

Normally I would agree with you, that a "guy from the street" just doesnt know better. But lets speak facts here-

Tendency to spit in the fanbase face doesnt make EA/DICE appear any more credible than that said "guy from the street".

Back when I was anxious to experiment with the game on my own, try different things, and especially focusing my time on jet balance tweaks (even worked out a detailed jet mod concept- on paper, and partially in files aswell), I came to a simple conclusion that even without hitbox mesh changes (or actually complete swap for all of them), its possible to create a reliable ATA and STA base for everyone to enjoy. All it takes is a few guys sitting together, do some research on the topic "so whats wrong with it", instead of "what would you like us to do with it?", and change a few numbers. It is really that simple. And unless people with hitbox mesh experience come in and prove me wrong, I will stand by my (maybe ignorant) statement that swapping hitboxes isnt that big of a deal.

Nice one Sherlock. Did you even read his post? He said he was shown how the hitbox mesh fixes were done and he found it very hard to do. That it wasnt as easy as people made it out to be. He didnt explain anything in details. He just expressed his opinion over the matter. It was a bold move, and appreciated. But somewhat dishonest.

Actually I do, at least when it comes to the concept of aerial balance. DICE was left behind. Eerything that is happening in the air in the current game is the result of their lack of vision. Solo choppering, redlining, you name it.

Thats only half the truth. Fact is, you can keep the majority of the vocal minority quite happy. And its very easy to do so. You need two things. You need to be honest and open, and you need to give them a free bone every once in a while. 1 free bone during 2 years is not "every once in a while". 3 if you count, but 2 of them were paid for.

Someone needs to call the police, because current DICE fanboys have just been raped.

They get PLENTY, PLENTY, PLENTY of money to take a short time off and work for the BF2 community. Anyone saying nonsense like "supporting the game takes money" needs to look at the hard facts. BF2 sold damn fine, and ranked servers program is doing damn good. If they are not getting any of the money from there, Id say they got a raw deal from EA, or they need to form a union.

After reading all the post, I wonder if I am the only person who would like to have a Large ALL Armored Vehicle Map.

Yes, NO planes or choppers! Just a LARGE map, lots of armored vehicles and a ton of ground pounders. That would be a fun map. :yay:

A two year old map riddled with in-game advertising is not support.

Support would be addressing the issues which need addressing. Balancing issues, support for the mod makers, and bugs.

The in-game advertising is freaking bollocks, and is reason enough to give up on DICE IMHO.

Who cares about in game advertising, I know i dont. I have yet to let it interupt my gameplay. If you dont like it then dont play it, move on, but i wouldnt be suprised if it wasnt the future of gaming. I know if I was a big company like EA and I knew i could squeeze out a few more dollars with in game advertising, then hell yea I would put it in there. Hello people EA is a buisness like any other buisness, they are out to make money. I'm happy to give my money to EA b/c i like BF2 and thier other great products. This game has done great and the only mistake EA has made IMO is listen to the commmunity to much. It is the communtitys fault that the game is the way it is now b/c of all the B I T C H I N G and moaning and nerf this or nerf that. I've said it once ill say it again, if you dont like it then dont play it and move on to another game.

And before someone says how is it the communitys fault then let me tell ya. Instead of concentraiting on fixing bugs they decided to listen to the communitys whining and moaning to nerf this or fix that to the gameplay. So thats what EA did mess with the gameplay b/c of the community which in turn ruined the game is some aspect or another.

Sometime its discouraging to come read what people post on here about the game, makes me not wanna play it sometimes. For all the ones that do whine about the game they sure must play it alot or otherwise they wouldnt come on here and do so.

This has got to be the worst community I have ever seen for a game. Please correct me if i am wrong.

its been like that ever since servers started costing $250 a month, you cant blame people for wanting their moneys worth. EA has the steepest royalty fees of any game provider out there, their service should fall in line with it. do you have any idea how much they make each month from server fees?

no offense but that really seems like a terribly hasty and very unprofessional reply for one the heads of this website and the myis server providers to make.

these "ungrateful bunch of bastards" are the ones filling your paychecks, someones got to rent servers from you and ill tell you a little secret, statements like that will not sell servers, they will do just the opposite.

i rarely see people who were the ones who bought the game act in such a manor as you've stated, just the noncontributing ungrateful kids who's opinions dont matter anyway but ill tell you, when people are paying $250 a month for a server they expect a little community support from the developers.

its not like theres no money in it, it would only help sell more servers and bring them more royalties and for the amount of monthly income being made from bf2 by everyone down the line from ea to dice to the server providers, it shouldn't be like pulling teeth to get a little bit of support.

there are over 5,000 servers out there all costing $250 a month to rent, shouldn't that kind of disgustingly shameless amount of income be deemed worthy of some community support? do you realize thats well over 1.25 million dollars a month changing hands from bf2 and thats not even counting the game sales, just in the servers alone. how much income does it take before a game is deemed worthy of full support? id say to be able to still make that kind of money on a 2 year old game each month was absolutely unheard of a few years ago so shouldn't the support structure change a little too?

i agree with MyIs Jeff, this is getting seriously stupid no matter what EA do there are hundreds of moaners lined up to just constantly moan and complain, yes theyre are issues, yes some people pay a lot for servers( which is still their decision and its obviously still worth it ),others paid for 1 game and clocked up 1000s of hours on it. Its still a fun game, its 2 years since release and were still getting free stuff( yes its funded, but who cares from a consumer pov ), we're still playing it and still passionate about it.

Buy a ubi game and youll come crawling back here, look at vegas, been out 6 months now, no SADS, no large patch, still on 1.04, major multiplayer issues, no servers, load of crap if you ask me

Again, people should be happy that we're getting something free, another patch might **** things up completely as per 1.3 id prefer the current status than that disaster, and if we can get more free content im all for it, and people have to understand that for the DICE guy/guys who created the map, its their job, its not some convenient thing they knock up in their free time, and id be fuming if i read the comments here and id be tempted to setup a duff account to flame everyone lol
