most intelligent post yet :salute:
you guys ***** moan groan for support ..... and when they give you something you ***** moan and groan.
at the end of the day ...... who cares if they got paid for it
i have an inside tip for you ... but pls don't tell anyone else since it seems to be a huuuuuge secret no one else knows
.
EA/DICE is a company..... and it is their job to make $$ ... jsut as it is ronald mcdonalds job to sell hamburgers ...... last i checked .... you even have to pay for an empty cup of water there .... so EA charging someone for the map and giving it to us for free. ..... how dare them .. thats blastphamy
/end sarcasism
no offense, i see the point and new content is always welcome but would giving the mod teams the popup spotlight they promised them 2 years ago be so much of a task? why is that popup so hard to give to the mod teams? is it really worth that much to them? do they show that much direct revenue from that popup to break a promise made 2 years ago? heck make it fair, rotate a mod team each month.
i think community support is awesome and welcomed in any form but it almost seems too late and a new map is great but this was only done because it was deemed a money maker by someone, like you said, its a company, they do nothing for free.
i think community support for a game they have sold an expansion and two boosters for shouldn't be considered a freebie token of goodwill. for a hardcore bf2 player they gathered $100 US from us including expansion and boosters, of witch there are absolutely no EA paid for servers whatsoever, if it weren't for the community paying for their own servers there would be no place to play any of the them, there are no EA expansion or booster servers.
true community support would involve helping to bring players to the mods, something that might actually involve ea to show some faith in the players to play the mods before they see a financial benefit and they will see it in the end, the servers still have to be rented, the game still has to be bought by new mod players. it seems like that type of faith is blasphemy to even mention these days and it wasn't just 4 year ago.
i swear to god i remember EA saying in the first days of bf2 say they would consider ranking mods, what ever happened to that idea, am i the only one that remembers it? i also remeber them saying they would consider ranking community made maps and everyone seemed to forget about that also. that would be the ultimate show of community support and as much as these mod makers hate ranks they would never refuse official EA ranking, it would multiply their player count by 20 and in the long run those mod developers are just players, the want their mods to get played and people to have some fun, the more the better and a helping hand from big brother would be nice.
i know the guys at dice are probably working their butts off for us but they don't call the shots, ea does and ive never seen a EA tag on these forums, only dice, hehehe. dont get me wrong, i don't think anything i mentioned hasn't been proposed by the dice guys long ago but got shot down by the guys who make the real decisions because they wont show immediate revenue.
i certainly don't mean to put you on the spot, this is more of a general post, but still it has merit.
LOL, what a load of crock. Sorry but you wont "buy" my sympathy (see what I did there?) and redeem yourself with a map that has been collecting dust for 2 years. This topic would have been all about "bravo" "gj Dice lol" and "nice guys, nice" if they actually cared about the community.
Youre trying to tell us that were an ungrateful bunch of bastards that can never be pleased. I´ll tell you what-
Extra little (even a map) free content with each patch and a semi formal explanation to why certain things cannot be fixed. Basically- honest care for the community and clear water are all I as a community member and a fresh fan would appreciate.
I remember CMCK tried honesty with explaining why J10 hitbox mesh was hard to fix. That was a damn bold step and I appreciated it, even though I took it with a large grin because swapping hitbox mesh cant be that hard.
Whatever, its 2 years down the road and BF2 is not the primary game for DICE anymore. Yet this map sounds like they are treating their fans like hookers, giving away "fresh new content" just so they wouldnt go to QW...

pls do not mistake my comments :) .... i too agree that their is alot more to this game then rankings :salute:
I don't want to take the shine from a good thing was my point.
As you can see here at TBF2 we give the mods and map makers the spotlight they deserve.
you have no argument here :) we're on the same page

.... p.s..... i do not work at EA/DICE :salute: it wasn't MY mappack silly

i knew we were on the same page, sometimes i feel like the news here is tailored to my personal preference, hehehe.
mods are where its at, they have the best potential to keep players the longest amount of time. i just wish we could convince everyone else and ea most of all. these mod teams aren't small fries, they put out some marvelous work worth supporting, i wish more people would realize that. this one map is just the tip of a gigantic iceberg full of new content if people would just take a leap of faith and try some mods.
like poe2, there are allot of vanilla players that would probably be bowen away by it but they just have never had the incentive to try a mod, that popup could provide that incentive they so desperately need to keep playing bf2 for months more than they ever would otherwise. i mean lets face it, there are allot of bf2 players that don't visit forums ,that popup is what they need to introduce them to mods.
Modjive is a great step in the direction of 'introducing the mods to bf2 players'...............oh yeh the map
err, no, kind of reminds me of Zatar with a kind of Karkand look about it, also i noticed they kinda rushed this map a bit (lighting effects exp. sun reflection) in all not really better than Jalalabad.
You know… it is a Desert Map<o></o> <!--[if !supportEmptyParas]--> <!--[endif]--><o></o> One side of the map should be advertising for Coke and the other side should be Pepsi :p<o></o> <!--[if !supportEmptyParas]--> <!--[endif]--><o></o> Or…<o></o> <!--[if !supportEmptyParas]--> <!--[endif]--><o></o> One side of the map should be advertising for Gatorade and the other side should be PowerAde
Fixed fog, viewdistance, sun flare, swapped chinese jeeps and added 1 attack heli per side while i was at it. And for goodness sake, back up the original so you can still play online
The navmesh is as usual "community ware" so use it however you like in whatever mod you like.

This is the power of the mod community, I wonder how long it will be until d(EA)ice makes these changes.

And this is why most gaming companies NEVER go to the community and try and explain in detail why something can't be fixed or will take a long time to be fixed.
They come out and explain in detail why a problem was very hard to fix and yet, you have the unmitigated GALL to ASSUME you know better than they do. That not only is your graphics ability better than all of their artists but that your knowledge of their code AND your programming ability is better than all of their programmers. BULL ****.
OH and yes, most gamers are "ungrateful bunch of bastards that can never be pleased". That's proven time and time again on this forum and many others on a daily basis.
