EA has out of the blue released a new map for Battlefield 2 titled "Highway Tampa". Here's what they had to say about this new content:

Through a collaborative effort Intel and EA DICE are rolling out a new Battlefield map for players to battle on. Highway Tampa is a vehicle focused map that offers a game experience similar to classic 1942 desert warfare. Explore this stretch of the Arabian Peninsula in your choice of vehicle and work with your team mates to conquer the map for your team. Download the beta, join in the servers, and drive, fly, and destroy your way to victory. Then drop by the EA forums and let us know what you think. Also keep your eyes to the future as this stretch of desert will see combat across two generations of Battlefield. SO I GUESS THIS MEANS THEY IS A ADD ON , ON THE WAY WHICH IS NICE LOOK FORWARD TO FINDING OUT WHAT THEY ARE GOING TO CALL IT

Yes they hope to release more maps,

Tell EA it needs choppers, and bombers, and the sand storm make it hard to see, which is good.

Just had some good dogfights, its so hard to see and easy to get away. I like it!

there wont be any Attack Helo's added, they might put the bombers back in but thats all your going to get :p the size of the map might get reduced too,

its a beta map got to unranked

no.. when jalalabad was released as a beta it was run on ranked servers.

It's a beta map, so there will be another realese, probably followed with a patch.

This map is shockingly lacking in any effort whatsoever.

Took 7 to 9 days work, maximum.

Oh and to those who are complaining about the Intel logos on the boxes, if you read the map description, the US are trying to get "new Intel technology" through and MEC is stopping them. Some nice marketing if you ask me!

In all seriousness though, if thats what it takes to get new maps, im all for it. Plus, i don't really care about in game advertising, it doesn't have any effect on me. Just don't look at the signs if it pisses you off that much.
Right, i'm off to buy a new Core 2 Duo.

EA/DICE is a company..... and it is their job to make $$ ... jsut as it is ronald mcdonalds job to sell hamburgers ...... last i checked .... you even have to pay for an empty cup of water there .... so EA charging someone for the map and giving it to us for free. ..... how dare them .. thats blastphamy
from a business standpoint. .. they have your money..... them giving us more content is an added bonus.

No matter what you might think ..... i worked closely with 2 of the DICE guys that helped made this happen, and i applaud them for their efforts ..... all of the ea/dice people i know are more then jsut employees there .... THEY ARE GAMERS JUST LIKE US !!!! and want to play. Least we not forget Pirellli was one of our own at TBF2 and now works there ....

I don't believe I will be buying another Battlefield game, ever.

Sure, we get a free map... but as stated a couple of pages back, one that bug-riddled and has adverts up to everybody's ears.

Sure, it's a beta... but as also stated, one that has essentialy been forgotten and taken out of the toilet to please the masses.

Pretty looking map, but.... meh.

Last two map that been released, where based on MEC USMC conflict. Besides of Wake Island I would love to see some Chinese maps in near future. Other than that I think map is pretty well done, and as I was telling one of my bodies last night It will help me get my final badge. I still think I've got some 100 + hours to get it.
