    Re: Desert Conflict Mod Update

Hey Nikko, what a delight to see you here again. Hope to see you soon again over a hot cup of supersonic lead, DCON style brutha!!

Them DCON boys are damn near superheroes - busting out so many hours to create something for us lazybutts for free!

...and it looks downright fabulous too.

DCON is more than a game - it's a welcome opportunity to meet up with old DC homies again, after what? years!

    Good times ahead!!

Agreed, my friend. Great to see you again, Lah! I am definitely re-installing that terrible BFspew for some DCON! I'm sure DCON will make the game 50 times better instantly.

I wonder why my name still says "Desert Conflict Mod Team" ... lol I just noticed that. Moderators of Total BF2 can change that to normal or "Ex-Desert Conflict Mod Team" or something of that nature if they wish. :)

Quick questions, who is responsible for the 3d intro? The sand particle is pretty sweet. Looks like a deformable mesh reactor. Just wondering as well, was the intro smoke stock footage or particles as well. If so what program and how.

links to answers are accepted as well.
mov would be too big, dont forget that video has almost 6 minutes and 720p

no stock footages, all "sand" clouds and other intro effects was done in 3dsmax by particle flow, afterburn and of course postproduction in combustion (particles were pointed to dcon text vertexes with some specific speed, gravity etc. and that way was text "physically" poured by sand, nothing extraordinary)

thank you all for positive comments, im really glad that you like video
also sysex and soundlink made amazing job on sounds, they spent lot, lot of time making it done and with all those sounds video become alive
its proof that each of dcon dev enjoying work on this mod and you will not be dissapointed by final outcome

I've gotten some really great looking compressions from H264 and H261. If you haven't used them I suggest just giving it a try. As well http://www.digitalAnarchy.com has a wonderful codec called microcosm. Like divx user would have to download the free codec to playback the video and the codec to compress isn't free, but it does offer some nice compression with little quality loss. heres a direct link to it: http://www.digitalanarchy.com/micro/micro_main.html

Again loved the all around design and the 3d text at the end worked pretty well as credits. I got worried at 4 minutes when the video ended. Was dreading you'd just flash text for 2 minutes. But was happy with the end result of what your tried to do with the text. Nice job.

So...I just downloaded the HD version off of the Filecloud link, and, as excited as I am to watch it, the movie just stops at 1:10. :hmm: No credits or anything, it just stops when the T 90s and the other vehicles are coming over the hill. The file description says its the right length and size, but no dice. Any suggestions? I wont have high speed for another few days, so anything outside of downloading again would be appreciated.

Ummm...great looking first 30 seconds of gameplay...? All I saw was the guy trying to revive the other one.

well im not very proficient with codecs, i tryed h264 and 261 and some more like xvid etc. but i needed some codec through which can see most of people video without issues, has good quality and take lesser space with long video and hd res so i chose mpeg4, anyway thanks for that codec tip, i allready downloaded it and going to try out

thanks for kind words i tryed to do it interesting from begin to the end

your downloader probably unexpectedly stopped download in those 30 secs
only way is that you will download it again
