Have you considered integrating bit torrent within the program?

        Re: ModJive Q&A

Let me just preface this post by saying I'm just a tester, so I'll do the best I can to answer these questions to the best of my knowledge (besides, elxx can correct me later :p)

Soon, but I don't know exactly when.

That depends on how popular ModJive turns out to be. If it's popular, it could be possible to add support for other games.

will their be a dedicated email or contact for mods to tell about update or a place to find out more on being supported by this..

        Droid
Like aak said, it will be up to the mod teams to get their mods included but I bet elxx is working on some kind of system that makes it easy for individual teams to update + release their content.

        - torrent downloading capabilities (tho I am assuming that it can launch a torrent client if the link to an update is a .torrent file)
        - ABR client capability

Basically the ability to become the front end for a mod in terms of launching the mod and joining servers / finding buddys.
I too would love to see these features in ModJive, perhaps they could be added before release. (I don't know, ask elxx)

        See above.

Take all my answers with a grain (or two) of salt, I'm sure elxx will be along shortly to provide proper (I mean correct) answers.

The server browser is a possibility for a later version. Currently it doesn't support torrents, but that can be added aswell. The buddy list system I'm not so sure about, right now ModJive doesn't really identify its users at all.

Heheh, sorry, that's not going to happen. If anything, EA's going to try to crush ModJive if it takes too much traffic from EA Link

Well, we're going to have several file servers - new mods will be uploaded to multiple ones to balance the load. Downloads might be slightly slower during peak times, but it's better than having to wait 35 minutes on Filecloud just to START downloading

Yep, there's an online backend where mod leaders can update their mods and info. We're working on getting contact info out so that mod teams can get their mods submitted.

but EA Link does not distribute mods...
what "traffic" do they have in common? patches?

EA should love Modjive as it helps keep people playing their games!

              Re: ModJive Q&A

Will Modjive support both full and incremental patches?
              - For example, say Battleracer 1.3 was released as the full patch, then sometime later a 1.31 patch as an incremental was released, meaning the 1.3 patch would be needed too, would they both be available to download?
Will ModJive have a sort of Premiere download for new Sir. Mods like before it's released elsewhere?

Will there be links to the modifications websites and a chance to read more detailed info, that just a brief description.

Is there a cut-off point of how many or which mods get chose?

That's what the shiny "Update" button in the Installed Mods is for. It does incremental updates :)

Yeah, I plan to release one or two of my mods as ModJive exclusives later on. It's not limited to Sir. mods though, all mod teams are free to choose when and how their mods are distributed.

ModJive will accept pretty much any mod that has a (virus-free) working release out. The team member who submits the mod must have MSN, Google Talk, or Skype to stay in touch though.

So where do you request your mod into ModJive?

There will be contact info on the ModJive website soon when we're ready to start accepting submissions.

So you did. Good to see your considering those features. Is it just you working on it?

For the buddy list, it could be possible to allow the users to add BF2 usernames to a buddy list which in turn could check if there online and if they are where they are.

Yep, that would go along with the server browser stuff.

I absolutely HATE Steam. ModJive won't end up like that.
